Listings for 1960's Cobras for sale?
Is there one website or publication that gathers information and lists all original 1960's Cobras for sale? I see the various auction house listings and was wondering if there is one source that collects current for sale listings and displays them.
Thank you in advance for any helpful answers.

I generally see a good Google search in your future, which will come up with all of the retail/commercial sellers. Private party cars, if properly priced, are usually snatched up without being advertised.
So the next question are, what is your budget like (1M-2M, under 1M, above 2M), and do you want a slabside, FIA, or 427SC style body? Finally, do you want a street driven car, or perhaps something with a race history that can slid in under current VSRA or FIA vintage rules?

Those are excellent questions to which I have discussed a bit with a friend. I am familiar with the 427 & SC body styles and some of the 289 styles. I am not familiar with the racing bodies such as FIA and others. That is why I was referred to a Cobra registry to learn the product and histories. I have over the years driven several Cobras and I prefer the 289. It doesn't have to be a concours level Cobra but a well taken care of and not wrecked Cobra would be ideal. And I guess there are levels of refurbishment to deal with also. I am in no rush and do not need a Cobra owned by someone well known like Steve McQueen. A tad over/under 1million would be ideal, but if more is needed for a certain provenance that comes with the Cobra than that will be taken into consideration.
Thank you for your reply,
Peter Brant

Peter,
If you want to learn all about the cars and their differences, I suggest you pick up the latest SAAC registry by CLICKING HERE as there are far too many differences to be able to sit back and type them all out. After you have learned what you really want, a call to Bill Collins or Vernon Estes would be in order (tell either of them I sent you).

I recently saw one that was just purchased. Car was never "listed for sale". I think more often than not the originals are sold by word of mouth.

That is the norm for the originals. They either exchange hands privately or very publicly at auction. You're not likely to see a real original show up on eBay...

When I negotiate on the purchase of a vehicle, it's based around a very clear understanding of how much I have to spend and what it's going to cost to transport it, repair it and get it registered locally. I'm open with the buyer about my budget.
I'm not sure how effective that negotiation strategy would be when the seller knows your father is a billionaire. Is it worth securing the services of a buyers agent to negotiate the purchase on your behalf?

There is an original 289 in New Zealand that has never been restored, low mileage silver with wire wheels. If you give me 2 million I will negotiate the sale with the owner. Will sit in it and fly it to you too.

Geez guys I'm small potatoes compared to some of my neighbors. I have been in contact with someone behind the scenes and eventually a purchase will be made. Just one of several things on the to do list but no rush. Thank you all for your input.

Between your name and screen name, if my Google searching is still up to snuff, do a search on this forum for Stormbringer_1. He's a neighbor of yours and you can probably easily figure out his identity. He probably knows some folks that can find you a car. At the very least, he can find you a buyer's rep that will find you something.

There is a stormbringer initiative for scholarships in my town so I do know the person you are referring. I mentioned in another post about a neighbor of mine that I was in contact with and this is the man. Sometimes even for me you have to go through several layers of people to reach the individual. We will be having a ride one morning this week when he arrives back from his winter break. Rather funny that I was in a partnership that developed what was formerly his families two thousand acre estate and lives less than a few miles away and I still have trouble reaching him. Just have to catch him at a local event or something similar.
Thanks for the information.

It would not be too late to call Barrett Jackson and get on the internet bidding list for CSX3169. With the softness on a lot of the higher end stuff (people waiting for Ron Pratte's stuff) this could be a pretty good deal.
Anyonhe know who did restoration?
