I don't think I could do it for that.
Finishing up a 445 right now. Guy supplied his own oil pump, bare Edelbrock heads, Performer RPM intake, and an MSD distributor, and we are at around $9500. That's with a hydraulic roller, factory non-adjustable rockers, forged pistons, Scat crank/rods, new Quick Fuel carb, etc. |

So much to respond to, I'm so confused.......:JEKYLHYDE :D
Depending on cost, I would of course prefer a brand new FE,.......YES, one thing I've desided upon is I want to stick with an FE. And again, I'd prefer a 427 or 428. I realize it will cost more money for the Pond, BBM, block, etc, but it will be worth it and be much happier. Yes, I need to get selling the sprint car parts, and few of them are very expensive and brand new, like the Engler fuel injection intake manifold system, air filter hat, rear brake system ect, and some good condition used parts. I have a complete (410) Winters sprint car quick change, just needs cleand up. Etc. IF,..... all brings what their worth (what racers are willing to pay ;)) they should help a lot in building/buying a motor. But, I won't count my chickens before I eat them. (Something like that).....:p The second highest cost will be the heads, as you can rack a lot of moola into heads. So, what do you think of Barry's own heads ? BBM's heads, which are on sale now for $1,100 shipped (bare) Blue Thunder Edelbrock This is an area where I don't know much, so I'll need guidance. Wanting a multipurpose street pounder, lowdown RPM T/Q engine, what heads, machine mods, and quality parts do you recommend ? I know you can spend a crap load, 3-5k in heads, but this will not be a race engine. |
Both heads are awesome. Barry's heads and bbm heads are top notch. So are pond and e heads which makes Barry's heads. I like bbm heads for street builds and Barry's heads for a high hp build.
|
What about the differences between the designs, quality, potential flow numbers, machining, and cost ?
Needs between street and race, what's needed, what's not. BBM's CNC maching is beautiful ! Jay will be coming out with his own heads too. |

I believe BBM's heads flow more out of the box that Barry's but I could be wrong. I talked with Tom at fe specialties and he told me that. He likes Both heads. He sells bbm heads now.
|
What flows are they out of the box? Any idea?
|
[quote=Bernica;1397948]What flows are they out of the box?
Erased my response. Those were CNC ported head numbers. Out of box I think Blykins said around 290 intake. |

When we compare apples to apples, who's in the lead and what cost's ? I'm real tired of researching, for now,.... **) so if any of you can look up the flow, comparison's, and with cost's of each, I'd appreciate it ! |

I'm used to driving a 1,350 lb. sprint car with 800-900 HP, dirt track with 25 other drivers around me, racing from 100 mph to 140 mph, turn left, side ways into four corners, and fishtailing all the way, so I can handle a 600 HP (+) 2,450 lb Cobra. :p  |
Sorry, I stand corrected. Let's just get this project going!!;)

I know Barry bench flowed his heads at kinetic, ported and he got 360 intake.
|
Hopefully, we can trust their own flow numbers.
Has Jay done any flow benching with the top 5 or so heads ? |
