" How did you determine the asking price? "

Doubling what you have in it leaves room for negotiating.

I just sent out a walk around and start video earlier today. I'd try to upload it here, but at 258 megs, I'm not certain the forum would allow it

I wish, I (and everyone else) would gladly buy every mint condition, clean titled, fully loaded, turn key SPF 289 roadster in the USA at 50K, you could find for me this week.

Method 1: Look at Cobra Country, eBay, BAT and the various other internet car selling places for comps. Some models/types are hard to find comps.

Method 2: Get the price of a new one from whichever yours is made by, adjusted to the future selling prices which can be a year or more out. Then ASK more than that as an incentive to get one now instead of two years from now. Also impress on the buyer that getting a new one is only about 80% of the way there - you've still got sorting out down time. A well sorted, with a power train from a reputable installer that you can drive NOW is worth more than a new one two years out. Just how much more is the negotiation.

I still think you should defer the decision of which one until after the Mustang has finished impressing you (or not).

The frame is mig and TIF welded, that must be one tough frame! All jokes aside, you car is really loaded with options, could some one build one that cheap today? Cheers, Dennis

The answer is no, I have a friend who after seeing mine, recently priced one out for Q2 2024 delivery at a little over $128,000 with a simple 347 stroker and 5spd like mine. Standard color, black interior, no tonneau, no spare rim/tire, but a top and side curtains. Installation and roller cost subject to change, he factored in another 20% for such things, although I believe that to be a little high.

He went out and ordered a new vette

I've seen Bill's 289 up close and it is mint, needing nothing.

The price is more than fair as a striped roller is running $110k + before tax and shipping.

Bill,

I was hoping you'd spring for a Z8. I've never seen one of those aluminum beauties in person.

I remember back in 1965, Mr. Shelby was driving me around this local airport grounds, really fast too. I was crying uncontrollably at the end of the ride. Oops, wait, that was Henry Ford in Ford vs. Ferrari.

Question for the seller, did Carroll Shelby sign the glovebox? I hear that's rare and desirable.

The simple way
Replacement cost
2 year waiting period
Comps (very few in the last 3-4 months to go by)

The not so simple way has another 8 steps I'm not willing to post here

However, I must have under-priced it for the market, as I have a deposit on it from SC based buyers, who just sold their dark blue, ex Sema-SPF 289 FIA (if I had only known). Buyers already have a 600HP SPF 427SC, and a bunch of other fun toys. They know the Olthoffs on a personal level as well, so knew a bargain when they saw it..

Well dang. If it sold that fast it was probably underpriced.

Congrats on the sale, Bill. I like quick and painless and that's what it seems like you got.

The Duce would never cry! He was brought up by Edsel, who loved speed, and beauty! Edsel would have owned a street GT40 if he had lived! He was building Model T cutdowns before he could drive, he was that cool. Shame his Dad commissioned the ugly car in his honor! Cheers, Dennis

I heard, if Carroll had lived, unsigned, gloveboxes would have been worth 20% more! Cheers, Dennis

I assume you say that with a smirk since you know that for $300 to the foundation CS would sign your a**. I was in Gardena once when he was signing stuff. It was quite a production. People moving parts around all over the floor.

Wow that was fast, congrats on the quick sale. FYI the foundation will still laser sign virtually anything for $50 no questions asked.

sell one and "pay it forward" by giving the other away to a life long cobra enthusiast who doesn't have enough money to buy one yet, like me!

I started out with a 19K, three day built, FFR Cobra replica, upgraded it until there was no more to upgrade as my spare funds allowed, then worked my way up to where I am today. You too can do the same, start off with what you can afford, build on it, and if you feel the need, take small steps upwards as time and spare funds allow.

Yes, it really is that simple.
