my second one
My first cobra came to me in 1996 at age 28, my second cobra at age 34! I have been blessed to have owned two of what I consider the coolest cars ever! And also a great site to share our passion with like minded cobra people!

Purchased my first ERA 19 years ago when I was 37. I figure I will only get in three or four more before they take the keys away and slam the lid down.

I am now 33, and bought my Cobra about 8 or 9 years ago. At the age of 24 - I definately had the pace on most with a Cobra, but I used it to thrash everyone at the race track rather than on the road.
Now with a wife and two kids, the Cobra is a toy that doesnt get used much - but its always there - and one day I will be 40 like most of you -and I might have more time and money again!

Could have bought my first at 21 (1965) used for $3300 but no back seat. Now redeeming myself (backseat is less important) at 59, so the average is 40.

This is a great site for the Cobra lover. I saw one when i was 14 years old and have wanted one ever since. I recently started my own buisiness and finally will have the resources to buy my first Cobra. I'm 26 and plan to have her on the road before i hit 30, it's great to here that there are more people out there that have the same passion that i do.

Yeah I was about your age when I first saw a Cobra in Australia at a race meeting. Thought it was great.
Played around witrh a few Street Rods and built my Cobra over the last 2 years. Had an RMC Cobra for a few years but never finished it.
This current Cobra (see gallery camera) is in being painted right now. I enjoyed driving it in gelcoat for six months placing over 10,000 miles on it in that time.
There are hundreds of people out there with your passion from all over the world. All will help you as you make your way through your purchase or build.
Welcome to clubcobra.
Cheers
Bernie

Great stories all.
I've always admired Cobras along with Ferraris, Corvettes, and other high-performance automobiles. I saw my first real-life Cobra on a trailer in PA while driving to a R/C aerobatic contest. About a year later, I saw another one while vacationing in upstate NY at a parking-lot car show. I felt as I did the first sighting- I'm going to get one one of these days.....
FFR 5191K was delivered mid May of this year (2004). While progress is slow, it should be on the road spring 2005.
I'm 43 years old, single parent of two teens and refuse to call it a midlife crisis. Building things is what I love to do.
The very best to you all!
Marc

The mid life crisis thing is a myth. Every guy wants a hot car from the time he's 2. You usually just can't afford it 'till later.

I've always been a sports car nut, growing up close to Watkins Glen. I watched the A/P Cobras run back in the 60's and never dreamed I would someday be able to own one. Owned some MGs, an XKE, many TRs; my favorite was a E/P TR3 that I put back on the street (added headlights and a muffler is all!!).
Sold all my sports cars as I raised my family (4 kids), as the time and finances weren't there. Bought a Suburban and a camper and had great fun with the kids as they grew up.
After the kids were grown, I was able to purchase another TR.
I was in the process of doing a frame off restoration of a TR3, and was driving a TR4 at age 49 when a friend of mine started selling SPF. I fell in love with the first Superformance they got in (blue/white stripes with hardtop), and sold the Triumphs and bought it!
I am 51, now, and have owned and driven many different sports cars over the years (I owned an import performance shop back in the 70's) and my Superformance is by far the most exciting to drive of all of them.
Next is a SPF Brock Coupe, then maybe the GT40........
