What makes him think that any site is scam free? Aside from that, it doesn't sound like a scam occured. The 30 day deal came and went.

Mark IV 03-29-2008 03:38 PM

Funny how the facts don't say "SCAM"!!!!

Power Surge 03-29-2008 03:43 PM

What a tool.

Excaliber 03-29-2008 03:54 PM

Well isn't this interesting. So Lewis, how's it going with the '72 Vette and Mustang you bought on e-bay? No doubt you ARE a 'used car dealer', as such, you gotta play by the rules. Which appear to be, 30 days or forfeit in this case. Might be different for an individual purchasing a car for himself, but as a dealer? No excuses, you would have done the same thing to anybody buying one of your watches or one of your cars. It's 'just business' after all.

Where's Maury Povich?

Probably an illegal immigrant here in our fine country as well!

FIA Mike 03-29-2008 05:16 PM

Lewis,

Doesn’t look like you will be getting much sympathy from this group. You made your bed now lie in it. Maybe in the future you won’t contact people to buy their cars unless you have money in hand. Good day “mate”.

Ahhhhh.......................for once it is the USED CAR DEALER that is paying the price on a deal gone bad. -It's usually the other way around!

JBo: I'm sure you've already done this, but just wanted to make sure that you have alerted your bank about this guy since he has your account information.

-It's always fun to hear BOTH sides of the story, isn't it?:D

jwd 03-29-2008 05:45 PM

Gotta love used car salesmen.

MaSnaka 03-29-2008 06:47 PM

Who needs this kinda stuff to deal with. Truely a no win situation for both parties. From what I have read it sounds like Lewis blew it. Good luck Jbo!

Lewis...you seemed quite willing to start a thread commenting on the character of JBo. He has responded with a significantly different picture of the transaction.

Unless you respond promptly in your own thread, we're going to be a bit particular about your future posts.

I'm sure you understand.

Lewis is 'Austwatch' on e-bay, his rating is pretty good, one little interesting snag in the feedback area...

"bid my car up so reserve was met then backed out..dead beat use caution"

If your bank was in the "process of transferring the balance" why did you ask for additional weeks to complete the transaction? And perhaps you might inform the readers here that you are a dealer, not an individual buyer (not that that changes the relevant facts, but is a detail you never mentioned) and that you were apparently trying to "flip" the car using funds you did not have?

Please, oh please, don't put your "evil eye pox" on the members here!

Yes, I know JBo personally and have for over 35 years. He is not a "scammer", he was abiding by the terms that YOU proposed.

I invite anyone who wants the true details to ask.

Rick

I AM A WATCH DEALER FOR 20 YEARS, I HAVE A LARGE COLLECTION OF CARS , SOME I SELL THROUGH A WEB SITE SOME I KEEP, THE MKIV ON MY SITE IS TO ADD PRESTIGE TO MY SITE.

FIA Mike 03-29-2008 08:33 PM

Lewis,

That is the full extent of your reply? Should we believe that JBo is correct in his version of the story? If JBo is telling the full story, I suggest the next time you burn yourself you don’t come crying here.

Usually, on an item like that, it's a non-refundable deposit. That is the price to pay for the seller holding the vehicle from other buyers.

I would say if anyone is in the wrong, depends on if there is a contract between the seller and buyer, and what it says.

NO GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT, 1 DAY TO PAY DEPOSIT, $5000 WAS PAID IN ONE DAY,

Excaliber 03-29-2008 08:34 PM

Point well taken Lewis, your e-bay reputation is outstanding, in much better shape than your current Club Cobra reputation. :D Interesting the negative feedback on e-bay was concerning a car purchase, hmmm...
