Lewis...you seemed quite willing to start a thread commenting on the character of JBo. He has responded with a significantly different picture of the transaction.

Unless you respond promptly in your own thread, we're going to be a bit particular about your future posts.

I'm sure you understand.

Now you are going to nitpick everyones responses!?! Change the word deposit to PAID IN FULL and you get what they MEANT!!!

Just a question, if I were to come to your dealership and give you a deposit to hold a car and I'd bring you the balance in 30 days... 30 days comes and goes and I don't put up... what would you do?!

Ooooh, you don't want to commit banking fraud. Just put a "fraud alert" on your account and you'll be fine. I believe Australia and the US have an extradition treaty.

Mr. Mustang, I love that video. Thank you for sharing.

I only quoted Sal on this one, he gets the credit for digging it up. Although, as a hint, I did send it to someone today who owes me $600 from December ;) No response from him yet, but I'm sure it will remind him that it is still an open debt.....

.YOU SEEM TO BE AN EXPERT IN ALL THINGS MKIV, a)I AM NOT A CAR DEALER I AM A WATCH DEALER FOR 20 YEARS,b) I WAS NOT TRYING TO FLIP THE CAR, I WAS WAITING FOR MONEY OWED TO ME TO COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO HAVE UNLIMITER FUNDS TO PLAY WITH.THE POINT YOU MISS IS THAT JBo IS A SMART ASS , HE CANCELLED THE DEAL THE MINUTE THE 30 DAYS WERE UP, FULL STOP. NO ROOM FOR NEGOSIATION, DEAL IS OFF, A "DECENT" PERSON WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE REASONABLE. I MADE AN OFFER ($73,000)THAT WAS 10 TO 15,000 ABOVE MARKET VALUE BECAUSE I WANTED THE CAR, I BET JBo STILL HAS THE CAR AND IT IS NOT FOR SALE . YES I OFFERED $73,000. ALL OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE KNOW THIS CAR IS " FOR SALE " NOW. IS THERE ANY ONE WHO WANTS TO BUY THIS CAR, LETS SEEE IF ANYONE ELSE OFFERS THAT SORT OF MONEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Rick[/quote]

no need for the question marks - I've investigated and yes indeed Australia IS in a different time-zone - do you need any assistance in knowing where it is? :D

As an ex "unofficial" cobra (mustang,corvette,MGB,TR6, camaro,to name a few) trader I have to say that I am amazed that you are complaining about a deal gone sour, especially since you are the one who did not follow the deal as set forth by your own negotiations. Every deal I've ever brokered pretty much states that if you do not come up with the funds over a set period of time, you lose your deposit. That is done to weed out the wannabe owners from those who will follow through in the time period alloted. My time is valuable and is not to be wasted, as is the time and effort it takes to find a buyer for a particular car (bike, boat, house, commercial warehouse, etc and so forth), hence the deposit then covers my wasted time should a buyer back out of a deal because "the dog ate his money". In this case it sounds like JBo was quite patient with you, especially when you were the one to approach him on the potential sale of his car to you (or your brother)....Of course if you had told him you were a dealer/broker, I'm sure he would have told you to have all funds up front, as any real dealer would have his financing in order before making an offer on a car, if not, then that dealer/broker must not have his act together. Once again. I do hope you figure things out one way or the other, but coming on to a public forum as you did and trying to drag someone through the mud (metaphorically speaking) without telling the whole story seems to be a bit dastardly and certainly not the right way to handle things. You being from Australia has nothing to do with it, different time zone has nothing to do with it, you breaking your word and not following through in the time you yourself agreed to has all to do with it.

Sorry if my post is tough to read, I do have a tendency to ramble a bit but you will get my meaning as it does appear you are a smart man........

Whould You Cancel The Deal Or Would You Try To Be Reasonable And Try To Complete The Deal A Week Or Two Late.
