Let us know how it turned out. Practice is good.
I wouldn't expect less than the 1" groups you are shooting with the ammo you are using. 1" is pretty good considering that fact.
Have a good time.

Dave,

Remember this is the same guy that can't drive his car straight. Wait a minute, you can't either.

Well I guess just like my Cobra, my gun also has to much power.
at least I hit the target 2 times for sure.
The other marks are from my 22LR.

Not bad. How far away?
Guess you ruined that set of swingers. You do know those are for 22 rimfire, right?

You hit the target 2 times out of 100 rounds... maybe you need a shotgun.

You professional internet key board boys are funny, just stay at home and ad your captions.

Yes Mesa Dave I did know it was for 22 but I figured it would just dent it up a bit.

I was shooting at 600 yards and 1000 yards
OK, it was at 50 yards free hand and after 4 hits I quit aiming at the target.
I also hit the base and the up right and just about cut it in half.

The Rat told me he paced off 50 yards to place the swing target but was not very accurate with his standing shots. The .223 is new to him and has put less than 300 rounds through his new Toy. He has a 3x9 variable scope that should allow him to drive nails @ 50 yards when he finds a way to get comfortable and dialed in. I suggested he check his stance and way he is holding the rifle to reduce the moving target in his scope.

I think Gunney or R. Lee Emery could help this young lady find his target for sure. Emery uses the military stance of putting his most forward elbow across his chest and craddle the fore stock from the bottom. I always found that very awkward and place my front elbow away from my body not under the rifle ??? Maybe if you start shooting that way it would become less awkward but it would seem to reduce the sway Ratboy is experiencing. I know we have some experts or training guys on CC, what is the best method guys? Oh, the targets were built for 22LR so the .223 should destroy them.

I find it best to place my forward elbow into my lower chest/upper abdomen, and the forward hand under the forearm, while leaning backwards a little.

Another method I use is once after I'm settled into a position, I close my eyes for a second or two, and then see if my aim had drifted. You want to get into a "neutral" position, that is, you donlt want to be forcing the gun to aim in a certain direction, the gun should be resting in a postion such that it is naturally pointing at the target. If you are off, you may need to adjust your stance/grip, whatever to get a better neutral position.
