A great.job for.the rookie organizer. Phoenix retains the trophy but that was expected. Some of the crew stopped.to see.Rick and Kelly.on the way home. He's making.a.good fight of it. I guess the next.outing will be Payson or Strawberry for.breakfast.

Awesome day! Hot on the drive home (as expected) but the time down in Tucson, and on the mountain was a blast. The weather on the patio while we ate breakfast was literally perfect.
Thanks Al for doing the legwork in pulling the run together! Something else you and I have in common (besides Cobras) - My wife is also Patti (but with an "i")
We wanted to make the last 2 stops with the group, but I glanced at my watch and realized that our 3pm expected arrival time back home was at risk, so we decided to turn and burn.

My thanks to the Tuscon crew for putting the run together. My first time up the mountain and enjoyed it very much. Those of you that missed it will have to do it again some time in the future.

We have lots of pics Scotty....but only for those members who supported the club. Phoenix came within a hairs breath of loosing this year. That was scary. ... I'll post them later today.. there are some photos posted somewhere.. Al posted them..

From the pictures I saw elsewhere, it looks like the road has been improved substantially over the years, guardrails and widening.

Think the road was widened to give more room for all the arses-in-the-air bike riders. I've passed hundreds, if not thousands, of bike riders and have yet to see one smiling, even going down hill.

When I was I high school, we used to go to Windy Point and race back down. Road was more narrow then but not much traffic, especially at night.

Hey I'm a bike rider too. Let me say I was in aw of those guys/gals that actually rode their bike up to the top in order to ride down. At the speed some of the riders were going down you don't have time to enjoy the view or smile. It's takes a lot of concentration (no smiling Karl) to control the braking, speed and corners. I returned a lot of waves going up but both hands on the handlebars going down prevents riders from giving hand signals. I rode Haliakala in Maui. Actually dangerous. Many motorist don't give you the space required to safely navigate on a road bike. My helmet is off to those bike riders.

Robert, Unless I am going blind, those are black tipped reef sharks in the pool. Those little rascals can be very dangerous.. but then so can Karl.. Looks like it was quite an experience..
