Allstate would not insure my Cobra, they said they do not insure replicas.

This is a great thread!
OK track date it is!!! There are two schools of thought here guys and I need to know which one to run down....

A) Rent the track for the day, that is an open track for use to use as we see fit for X amount of hours. (No training (unless Mulv is open), no first aid, no gas, and no crummy snack bar!)

B) Set up an event with Pro-Auto, or NASA's school group. (if you're a member you can run in your group, expert advice, no passing except for the last session, gas, first aid, and crummy snack bar!)

I would need to know how many bodies are REALLY interested, and yes NOV would be great! Let me know how to proceed gang and we will get er done!

And by the way I think that the "Lone Star" handels better than a stock FFR, spec racers are indeed much better! And SPF's do not look as good as a Kirkham, and what about those Backdraft's anyone seen that car at the track with the M3 gear???

If a contemporary is allowed, I would be interested in a track day..

and Steven, try State Farm. My car is covered for less than $360/year.

Depends on which track. They range from $2500 a day to $7500 a day.
Firebird east is always a good track for this. I'll come out and instruct if you like.

Dan,

I use State Farm as well. I believe my coverage costs about $600/year. I'm just over 30, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

What do you think, maybe 10 cars? So that's $300-700/ea?

Instruction would be nice....

I believe we are all better off with a guide group like Pro-Auto at Firebird east or west. Some need classes, all will get lots of track time and it ends up in the $125 to $150 range. Much safer.
Time to take this thread to it's own title

If we can get 15 people for Firebird east it would be about $200-$250 each for the day. This would include fire and saftey. I beleive insurance would be an additional $500. Remember I was the president of NASA in AZ for several years. Track events aren't hard to set up. I can give Rich at Firebird a call to set it up.
Unlimited track time for the day and if Mulv is up to it, he and I can instruct for the day.
Stuff I would like to see in all the cars.
A complete nut and bolt- do this yourself. This is for saftey's sake.
Fire extingusher- You can get one with a steel mount for about $50 out of summit.
Batteries must have a good hold down.
Snell 2000 or newer helmets-open cars REALLY need full face helmets for the driver.
No fluid leaks.
A quick tech inspection should be done before running.

With those kinds of stipulations, count me in.. I will gladly spend a few bucks to run my car on a track.. and Steven, I just recently celebrated the 31st. anniversary of my 30th birthday.. That may have a lot to do with the difference.

Count me in especially if this is in the fall and not in 100+ temp. Sounds cheap to me.

Mod Note...

Since we seem to have a fork in this thread, the AZ Cobra group started a new thread about the Track Event.

Stay with the original topic on this thread and please continue the track-day discussion on the new thread:

Track Day in November

thanks
