Spoooky, I dealt with Todd Andrews throughout the replacement of my 402R to the new 427R (see my thread Roush is replacing my motor) Roush is replacing my motor.
He was great to deal with and did everything he said he was going to do. From my experiences dealing with Todd his main objective is to make everything right.
I hope they get your motor back to you soon.
Best of luck
Peter

Well Todd Andrews from Roush called me back this afternoon to give me an update. They have got my motor torn down and are fixing the problem. He told me that it should be back in Phoenix in about a week and a half. That means I should be back on the road by Thanksgiving, I hope. What a great guy and company.

Got a call from John at Anthem late this afternoon and he told me that Roush has my motor apart and are going through it. No answers yet to what they found but the good new is that they will be shipping it back to Phoenix sometime next week and I should be back up and running in about 2 to 2.5 weeks from today. Pretty good in my book so far. I'll keep you all posted as to what they found that caused the smoking when you put your foot into it a bit.

Spooky, The Best Thing That They Could Have Done Was To Give You A Brand New Engine Period....the Rest Is Bull In My Opinion Or They Should Put A Few Extra New Parts In The Box Shipped Back To You For Your Time And Aggravation....dave....p.s. Not Kidding Either....

Got great news this morning from Todd Andrews at Roush. He called me this morning and told me exactly whats going on... In the short of it. I'm basically going to have a new motor. They are putting all new pistons, rings and beehive springs. This will bring the compression up a bit from 10:1 and stop that little smoke that all FE's seem to do. My motor is serial #3 and was one of their first Shelby Aluminum block builds and since then they have made vast improvements internally. Todd says I'll just love it and it will be even more responsive. Can't wait 2 weeks!!!

There's a club drag day a Speed World on the 16th November. I guess we'll miss this one with the Roush Big Block, but there will be others.

I will be missing that. I don't expect to be on the road until after Thanksgiving. Hopefully in time for the X-mas party on the 6th.

Well keeping everybody updated here. I received an email from Todd at Roush yesterday and they are in the process of putting the motor back together. He stated that it will be brand new pretty much. All new updated components. No ship time yet, but I know it will be worth the wait. Great company and great guys at Roush. Todd Andrews is first class.

Spooky,
I am a big proponent of Roush, but mine has no issues, I have to admit I am disgusted with Roush's long turn around time (over 2 months) with this warranty issue. I bet it did not take you this long to pay them. Best of Luck. I hope they throw in some free billet valve covers. You should have been first in line, you have been waiting since the day you bought it to have it right.

Don't jinx your motor my friend! I was just thinking last weekend how great my Roush motor was running...then "knock, knock, knock." Roush quickly gave the OK for my local shop to do the diagnosis the problem, but now I'm waiting for them to look at it.
Two month turn around from Roush is record turn around. Madmaxx, just hope you don't you need test your warranty!

As far as what broke, really nothing. The rings on 3 cylinders were sticking. That is why they are changing the pistons and valve springs with a whole new set up. I know that I'm getting beehive springs. The motor ran great, just smoked a bit when you put your foot in it. I hope it ships right after Thanksgiving. No firm date yet. At least Todd is talking to me which is good.

Coming from someone who went through a LOT of challenges with basically the same motor 2 months ago - I spoke with Todd yesterday about something else and he mentioned your motor almost being ready to ship back and that they have "upgraded" your motor with most all of the improvements the new motors are coming with now. We just have paid of bit of a price to be early adopters. they have figured out some of the challenges and fixed that on the new version shipping out.
I can only speak for myself but other than my initial troubles in getting things sorted out Todd and Roush have been on top of things. It is amazing after a couple of long months I had trying to get the engine dialed in how fast I forgot about the pain when I got in and it ran the way it was designed for.
Hang in there Tim, it will be worth it.

Thank you for the kind words guys. I'll be there. Hope for no rain this year. Hope to have the car but it's going to be close. I know that Anthem, " Charlie " can have the motor in that car in a day. That will be my next hurdle to see what Anthem Motor can do with their limited work space. Any one been to their make shift shop? Has John found a new one yet?

Call me crazy, but with the money you've got in these motors you guys are way too patient and forgiving. If it were me I would want a new motor and not in two months.
