Mikie,
Was @ Cabelas this afternoon and they had 8 boxes of 45auto jhp on the shelf. Maybe not ideal but for plinking should be good enough.

Please Maricopa, we must remain cordial in the face of antanganism.

Yeah you're right Dan. What was I thinking?

Question

Mike...sorry to interrupt, but this is for user sdfletch and others.

This thread is in the Arizona Regional Club forum...and they are planning an event.

If you do not live in Arizona or are not part of their group, please respect the purpose of the Regional Club forums and let them do their planning and discussion.... without side trips.

If you are personally tortured with gun control issues, seek therapy in the Lounge or, perhaps, some other fine sites on the Internet...I do mean...elsewhere.

thanks

Can you technically call a .223 a 'high powered' weapon?

Maricopa, Yes. The muzzle velocity of the average 223 exceeds 3000 fps. By most standards, that makes it a hi power rifle.

Ask Charlie.
I like how the reporter calls them assault rifles.

Well, the .223's balistics will sure spank my Daisy, but then, I always did like to spank my daisy, or was that huckleberry.

My first Daisy was a wooden stock lever action BB gun and then, after I wore it out, I moved up to a Daisy pump BB gun with a "space age" plastic stock. (that late 50's plastic stock never did break or get wobbly even after many many thousands of shots fired) That gun was the big time since the pump gun was a whole lot more powerful. I finally got strong enough to be able to hold the stock on my hip and crank off all 20 BBs real quickly. My infatuation with rapid fire had an early start. I still carry one of its BBs under my left cheek bone from when my cousin shot me. Now, Huckleberry is a whole different story.

With all this talk about handguns, I pulled the 1851 our of it's storage place.

Decided to clean it after more than a year of it sitting in the case. It was still spotless and no sign of rust.

I grabbed the manual and found a difference of opinion as to the initial powder charge. Then while really looking at the chamber I asked myself, How does the powder keep from falling out of the back of the chamber before the cap is placed on the nipple.

Ideas?

Mike

Mikiec

Any truth in the rumours that you are a smaller target to hit.

How's it all going.

Mike,
if you look into the cylinder, you can see that the other end of the nipple is only a pin hole. You should take those nipples off once in a while and clean in there too. With black powder, you can take off the grips and put the gun in the dish washer to clean it.
