Sambo, you're right GMH don't pay $500 as they, along with Toyota Australia and Ford have accreditation to perform these tests. Only VIPAC are the independant tester with accreditation - ain't it great to have a monopoly!!

Before VIPAC where around it was the emmssions labs at Ford, GM, Toyota ect that subcontracted their facilities to test other manufacturers cars such as small production vehicles like Corsa and small volume imports. Any car being sold in Aust must have passed Australian emmission testing!

It was a while ago now but I think I remember my engineer saying that you can have no roll bar BUT if you are going to have one it must protect the passenger as well as the driver.
