Just a small update. I refurbished my old work bench over Christmas. It's come up really nice. I cut the legs down and welded pads on for adjustable feet. It now sit's solid and level. It also got a fresh coat of paint as it looked a bit ugly next to the new wall.

A bit of an update. I've finally got a concrete drive going in Hooray! No more muddy winter and dusty summer.

Here they are working out all the falls for the storm water drains.



There's plenty of storm water drains in it as I don't want any chance of water going into the shed or garage.

The first couple of sections went in yesterday. This is a pad at the side of the shed that will be good for parking the trailer out of the way.



I've got them to put an apron around the whole shed so It'll be easier to go around with the mower. It also hides the bottom edge of the shed slab which looked a bit dodgy from the outside.



The soil level will be built up to the edge of the concrete.

They will do the rest in about 3 seperate pours as it's a large area. They reckon it'll be finished the end of next week.

We went with 5" thick 25Mpa and F72 mesh as I want it to be strong and stable especially if there is any heavy traffic across it like trucks taking stuff into the back yard etc.

I'm happy it's finally going in. We have had a dirt and gravel drive for 3 years and I'm really tired of it.

I'm a little worried about that actually. I bought a bunch of these little LED lights that will be set into the edges of the concrete. It might make the place look like a runway at night.

When we lived in Niddre years ago a plane crashed on a row of houses in the next street from us. I don't fancy that happening.

Looks great Mike - especially that haven at the end of the driveway. We've put an offer on some acreage south east of Melbourne and a proper shed is top of the list of improvements to be done. Can you recommend a shed company and/or tradies for various parts of the job? PM me if you like.

They are based down south east of Melbourne in Mulgrave.

Hey Mike, excuse my ignorance but do you live in a semi rural area? Curious to know what sorta sheds you can build in certain areas compared to what we can do up here.

Love your shed. I've been trying to sell my house for 3 years and move to a place where I can build a decent shed in my backyard. Its been so long I have 5 different shed designs already sketched out.

I had an architect mate do me some drafts as its going to double as a BOMB shelter (Cyclone) for us as well. It'll have all the usual car stuff hoist etc for 4 - 6 + cars plus a fully self contained unit to live in while I rebuild the house the has been blown/washed away! Qld weather....

Trusteel have just completed my shed, a 18x15M shed that will be used to store cars.

The shed is a quality shed, and I was extremely impressed with the guys they had putting it together. I went for 125mm floor with F72 mesh as it could be used for different things in the future.

Shed took 1 1/2 weeks to put up and 5 months to get through council.

Yes, I'm in a semi rural area. I'm in a small country town on the outskirts of Melbourne. Where I am is mostly larger blocks from 1400m2 up to 1 and 2 acres. We are on an acre (4000m2). I think the semi rural nature helps with getting a larger shed through council. There are a lot of big sheds around our area. The bloke accross the road has huge one that he parks his tipper truck with dog trailer in. He's got it set up to drive straight through.

I left the permits side of things to the guys at Trusteel. I just told them what I wanted and where it would be on the block and they did the rest.

It is possible to build anything anywhere..... it just takes longer

and cost more the closer you live to the city.

I am less than 10k's from the GPO in Brighton East, my 17 x 9 x 6

meter shed took 12 Months with the council and 18 Months to build.

It has 3 hoists, rear shed, bar ( 500 beer capacity ), dunny, shower,

bedroom 3 plasma TV's AC/Heating, the plan was to live in when the house

is demolished ( I was single then ) think it will be a renter now

Gold Coast Council knocked back my 12mx12m application until supplied with photos of sheds in the immediate area that were bigger/more visually offensive than the one proposed.

Had 2 lady inspectors come out the check the block to ensure the shed would fit.......yes maam, all the trees will stay.
