Al - that's got my attention, especially the pre-blower bits and pieces. Who owns this? It looks like the Whipple billet mono-blade throttle body, which has received a really mixed response.

Hexnut72 said it all! I am building an AC Cobra with a Lexus v8 in it! There are many reasons I chose this engine; they are easy to get here in New Zealand, are cheap ($1000.00 (NZ) delivered to my door with trans and computer), have good power for the dollars you pay (about 300hp stock with tube headers as opposed to a 289 stock 225hp) even more than a hipo with 271hp. They are much lighter than a Ford small block being all alloy. Plus they are 6 bolt mains, 32 valve, efi and will take forced induction without touching the internals, (they sound awesome too with sidepipes!). A good alround reliable engine that (should) go forever. If I was building a genuine 289 or 427 Cobra I would not be using anything but 289 or 427 Ford. Most of these cars are kit or aftermarket so you can really put what you want in them. Even if you use Ford (302,351,390,428 etc) you are straying away from what is true, so use what you want. If it is a replica it is always going to be a replica! If you want the real deal go buy one. Unfortunately I can't afford over $1m.

The ICV checklist would just be a NA on the emissions section and see attached electric motor drive NCOP 14.

Without a fuel tank and and plenty of room up the front (electric motor is fairly small) I believe enough for about a 300km trip.
Electric motor power has the advantage of full torque available all the way through the rpm range.

I have to question the original premise that the Shelby AC Cobra is indeed a ford legend.

No doubt the Shelby AC Cobra is indeed a great legend, but I might suggest that to call it a ford legend is not entirely accurate. It is more a legend, that was back then, powered by a ford engine.

Today of course, the best legendary engine to power the best legendary car is the Chevy LS series.

The car was marketed in the UK as the AC Cobra and in the US as a Ford Cobra and Shelby Cobra. The world championship won was a Ford Cobra, I understand. Also, the cars were initially sold in the US through Ford dealerships. However that said, current Australian emission and compliance rules mean that the easiest new motor to fit is the Holden one. I agonised over that choice for a long time (earlier thread) and the heart won over the head, I'm afraid. What ever makes you happy!

I do like these new LS series motors that they are coming out with , they really look like a modern Windsor in their bolt patern etc

-- I look at them as american built engines. ( and - or - Canadian ) in the case of the EROD LS3.

The LS7 and the LS9 are made in Wixom Michigan, by hard working Americans. -- hell even AMG came over for a visit as they were impressed with the building of the new LS7/LS9.

Yeah, well they STILL look funny, with all them ignition coils covering the valve covers and such. Do try to clean that stuff up a little, make it look a bit more "old school" if you would.

I'd dump the injection all together and go with a double pumper!!! Which won't pass smog, but, I'm in Oregon, USA, so it's not an issue here.

Why would you want to go backwards in the technology stakes?
I reckon Aussie Mikes engine bay looks fairly old school, or a setup with hidden coil packs and a different injection setup.
