45kg is a signficant saving, goes to show how large that block is.
On a 427FE it is only around a 27kg saving. I looked at the weight saving between an iron 427 & an alloy 427 block, both engines with alloy heads.
Just did a quick google search:
329kg for 429/460 & 351 Clevelands could be more. I assume iron heads.
236kg for an iron 427FE with alloy heads. 209kg with alloy block.
193kg 302w with alloy heads.
189kg for an LS3.
Interesting.
