LS sump measurement?
Gday,
I am after measurements for sumps from LS engines. If you have an LS engine in an easy to reach spot, would you mind throwing a tape on it for me to check the overall outside depth (bottom of the drain plug casting)?
I have an LS3 which is about 185mm deep. I think the LS1 sumps might be around 125mm, but im not sure. Looking for measurements for LS1, LS2, L76 and L98.
I have my motor sitting in there at the moment, but it will be a very tight fit for height and i would like more clearance under the car.
Cheers.
Liam

Liam,
Have a look at this older post, might give you the answers.
Cheers

That answers my question, thanks. I will price up the corvette LS2 sump, but it looks like it will be around the cost of the moroso so i might go with the moroso if it has more volume.
Sambo, where did you and Stiffy order the sumps on that thread from?

Liam,
I think we all bought them from Speed Inc. Email Fraser, fraseratspeedincdotcom, for a price.
You may not need the windage tray. They are the same as the production item, at least for an LS2. Ensure you get the dip stick and pickup though as they are very different.
Cheers

This looks like a good price. US$347 for the whole lot.
C6 Vette Rear Sump Oil Pan Kit SSPK - Crate Engine Depot
For reference, as i am doing the engine mounts right now, should i go off the bottom of the T56 bellhousing as the lowest point or does the short filter sit slightly lower?

Looks like a good deal.
The short filter sits about level with the sump.
Cheers
