Spook - I noticed that he has commented on a possible rear end failure of some sort on his youtube vid. Do you think that could be a similar issue to what happened to yours?

Cheers

Default Rear End

Andrew, we may never know. I have spoken at length with Pete the owner, as well as the Backdraft guys... While the crash characteristics are very similar as well as the area of failure (rear end), we suspect, think, guess, hope the actual point of failure was different.

We know in my case it was definitely a lower control arm bolt failure. Pete's wasn't, as the same bolt was still intact in its housing on his car. A positive I guess if you can call it that.

It has been a difficult process ... learning to drive LHD with a dog box, lunched engine, broken diff and now crashing and effectively wiping out the RHS of the car...

A rather unhappy and expensive process overall..but I was lucky unlike Peter, so I have that bit to be thankful for...

We continue to rebuild.....and try to have fun!

Matt

Great work with those cable ties Dave, ever thought about a career as a sparky?!!!

Not long to go now, my chariot is nearly ready, had the front end aligned last week, and have borrowed some corner weight scales to see if I can get the car to behave any better on the track.
I weighed it the other day and was pleasantly surprised that with the top on it weighed 1180kg. There have been no weight saving changes to the car from rego, only weight adding so that was good news. The really surprising thing was the weight distribution, 45% front and 55% to the rear. I thought there would be a fair bit of weight in the back, but not that much. Probably explains why it hooks up at the drags!!

Gav I'll be heading down (6.0 and up) along with John White (GT40) Peter Hancock (5.0 litre class) Wayne Proctor (5.0 - 6.0 litre class) and Tony Stark in the new Harrison race car. Not sure who else is coming, Warren was going to be coming but with two stuffed Quads and walking on crutches it seems he won't be there. We should all be heading down in convoy, Raymond Terrace the first night then on to Wangaratta hopefully late afternoon.
Are you going to want to fit those tyres first thing Friday morning?
