Pretty sure they must point down, Cant remember the number but 15 or 30 degrees is in my head.

I don't know the ADR words at all but logically you would think there would be need for some downward deflection to minimise risk of hot exhaust blast against adjacent legs as a practical outcome. This only for side pipes as generally capable of pointing at an adjacent kerb.
But then I learnt a long time ago, legislation is not always practical - lol I'll be interested to hear what the legal requirement is specified as in this case when you find out! |
I think the main issue with the way they point will be the noise.
|
With the design of Ben's pipes he will easily be able to make tips that route the exhaust back under the car and through some extra mufflers to tailpipes at the rear.
It'll be near impossible to quiet them down enough with just side pipes. Cheers |

More progress! Finished the last cooling system hose (overflow). Re-fitted the seats, bolted down the roll bar rear mounts and tidied up a few things in the boot. Finally bolted the left rear suspension back together, and kept going and finished up the rear brakes, and cut the spacers and finally mounted the rear shocks.
Complete exhaust system went to ceramic coating on Friday. Next weekend could be a very big moment. https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4764.jpg https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4768.jpg https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4769.jpg https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4770.jpg https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4771.jpg https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4772.jpg https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4773.jpg https://bencobra.files.wordpress.com...8/img_4774.jpg |
Way to go Ben. Looking great. Luv those APs on the rears. :-)
You did say engine start before end of Aug at the last meeting, looks like you'll just make it. Make sure the Video camera is rolling :-) Cheers Gregg |
Ben
If you want me to come over and hold a fire extinguisher, camera or beer whilst you try starting the beast let me know - lol |
Is that all your suspension bolted up? You'll be itching to put the wheels on and drop it down on the ground. Makes a big difference looking at it sitting on its wheels.
Exciting times. Did your brakes all bolt up OK? Cheers |
yes Mike, suspension done. Wheels will have tyres on this week. Brakes all bolted up (as if there was ever any doubt!)
getting close. |

That's a lot of plumbing in the wheel arch. Good for easy access but are you planning some kind of shield to protect it? Looking forward to seeing it on it's wheels. Cheers |
not for the braided hoses, but I have made stone guards for pump and surge tank, yes.
|
|
Get cracking and bolt them on!
|
There is a whole lot of car sexiness right there. Penske shocks (if I am seeing them right), AP calipers and wheels all look good.
It's great following this develop over time, great job. |
Come on Ben, you have had those wheels and tyres for at least 16 hours going by the time of your post. Why have we got no pics of your car sitting on it's new wheels?
|
not putting them on and dropping it just to undo it all. Have to bleed brakes and a couple of things, also want the wheels off when I start the engine, easier to check for leaks.
