Looks great sitting on it's wheels Ben! I bet it's a good feeling to roll it out of the shed.

Looking forward to seeing it fire up in anger. Sits very nicely on those wheels/tyres. I use the string line method too and works a treat. Cheers Gregg |
Great work and what a achievement. Looks good on its feet....... actually it never gets old seeing these cars at any stage of build, just awesome.
I really like the drop tank look, it just suits the rear and has that old school look. Will be waiting for next weeks updates. |
Shed run
Benny,
Maybe it's time for a shed run next Saturday to give you a hand. What do you need from us? Stiffy |
my old cobra had a very similar drop tank too yours only mine was a cover to hide the lpg tank in . as for the string line thats the only way we do the race car now and a cheap caster /camber gauge
|
I bought a 'quicktrick' alignment set. Cheap easy to use and quite accurate.

Good work Ben.
My wife too thinks she is getting a car spot back when the cobra is running - ha ha!! So with all this support of the string line alignment method - how's it done?? I will need to also align my car before getting it to somewhere set up to do the whole car properly. I recall my very first small excursion and the front of the car felt like it was on ball bearings. I could only drive at a snails pace to maintain control. Sorry for the topic hi-jack though. |

Matches the roll bar!
Big thumbs up!!! Mate, it must seem sooo close now! |

Ben they look great. Are you going to show us a "first start" video tomorrow night at the club meeting? :-)
I don't think I would be able to sleep tonight if I was you knowing those finals parts are just waiting to be installed :-) Good Luck with the engine start. Cheers Gregg |
Coating looks good and a nice satin/matt finish.
Am I right to presume its ceramic coated, if so this is what I am doing with mine for sure. |
Yep ceramic satin black, done by HPC coatings
|
Looks good Ben. I reckon I'll get my pipes done in black.
Cheers |
She fired right up.

Well it was certainly a good day today, happy Father's Day!
First I put in 5 litres of fuel, but she wouldn't fire and fuel pressure was zero. A bit of head scratching and thinking that the fuel pressure sender was b0rk3d and something else must also be wrong, but then I thought of the baffle. The baffle in the fuel tank is obviously pretty closed, and never having had fuel in it, it was totally empty. I dumped another 18 litres in, and voila off we went to the races. Another Sideshow ECU and loom fires on the first go. No leaks which is a good thing! The only issue I can find is that my oil temp gauge doesn't seem to be getting a reading, it never moved off "LO" and is supposed to read 32-160C, so I need to look at that. Just uploading driving videos now...... oh yeah....not much chance of getting through full reg with these sidepipes :D :D :D :D my high-pressure pump is L-O-U-D. It makes an 044 look quiet. I have a lift and HP pump, both are from Fuelab. |
We done Ben its alive now!!!!
|
|
Ben well done on the birth of your Cobra.
Sounds great. Re the Oil temp - I would also do a quick check on the Earthing on the sender - unless it is a two-wire job. Looking forward to seeing it in action at the Nationals Happy Fathers Day Cheers Gregg |
Well done Ben! More motivation for me!
Sounds fantastic. And you've even got a little blue fan club car to follow you 'round  |
