Ill give that a go this arvo - thanks Dave.

Has anyone built\designed a heat shield for the starter motor on LS engines- definately need something in there.

maybe it's worth looking up your engine type/starter motor part #... and see if there is a GM heat shield part # for it.

As Gregg said, the commodore has such a shield as standard. I retained mine and adapted it to shield my alternator, as the headers run further forward and clear of the starter.

Although on mine is was that wrinkly, double layered flexible aluminium stuff. Mine was VF Commodonor.

You can buy that flexible heat shield stuff quite easily I'm told. Haven't looked myself.
