casaleenie - very funny !!!

My Dad has driven my car, and the keys are available to him anytime.

OZVENOM would have driven it, but he couldn't reach the pedals after we extended the footbox

The "who could you trust to drive your Cobra" award MUST go to Hersh BTSNAKE. Not only did he let myself and Scott drive the car while we were in Arizona, but he let us drive it from Phoenix to London, Ohio for the Fling. Having never met us before, that was an amazing gesture - one that will never been forgotten. I don't see Hersh on the site as much these days. I think his Midstates must be gathering dust now that he's the US agent for Roaring Forties GT40s.

All the guys at work have asked me if they can have a drive when I am finished, I have told them all that I will take them for a ride and if they still want to have a drive then they can (most of them are ok, the bad ones have got no chance) but if they crash it they own it, and they know I mean what I say.
Only about 5 can afford it so there is only those guys that will get a drive.
My wife has already told me she aint gunna get in the seat, either driver or passenger.
I too was offered the keys from Bernie at the Nationals, (thanks again Bernie) but I want my first drive to be my car.
So I have been driven around in afew but am still to see just how powerful these things feel under your foot.

Let's see - the wife loves to drive it - my two gear head nephews (the thrill of their young lives) - all with me on board offering words of caution - a machanic friend of mine with his young daughter on board and several Atlanta area Cobra guys. No one else has asked or been offered.

I drive Mr Flatchat to distraction in his Cobra. I also drive him to drink. But he just loves it when I drive him CRAZY.

Come on you guys, it is only a car, albeit one that needs a lot of respect. I went for a long drive around the countryside (even into another state) on Tuesday with 6 other Cobras. It has been such a long time since I have done that -- a Cobra Convoy snaking through the hills is a magic sight. I enjoyed every minute, and was so happy when I got home, I drove him NUTS!!!!

Yes, I drive the Cobra around race tracks as well. The more I drive, the more I learn. My better half doesn't mind that the car is driven by me, and he also lets other people that he trusts, drive it as well.

I am indeed fortunate to be around someone who lets me enjoy myself too.

Mrs Flatchat.

Smile Who's driving my Cobra

The only other person to have driven my Cobra since I've owned it is my son Barry.
He respects the fact that it's not his and therefore doesn't drive it as hard as I do. Also he has never been allowed to drive it out of my sight.
Cheers,
Bryan

Only me and a couple of other Cobra owners that race at the track. And the police Sargent that I drove over to the dam. He said either he drove back or he would radio for a unit to come get him. Slowest trip from shasta Dam to Central Valley, I have ever made. He really babied it and even said that he likes the way it handled. Just not MY driving.

I have had 3 drive mine. The guy who worked on it, my wife and my best bud. My wife will get to take it to the track for a performance driving course next month so she can be more comfortable in it.
My buddy was funny. It had been a long time since he had driven a stick and the black knob doesn't give as much information as to where the gears are. He took of from a stop sign kind of quick. Once across the intersection he says, it doesn't seem much faster than my mustang (2004 GT). I dryly answer, that's because you started in 3rd gear. He pulled over and let me take us back.

I'll let anybody drive mine but only on the racetrack. Too many a$$holes on the street to be taking any chances.Especially in my neighborhood.

The only two people who has had the pleasure of driving my car was Dan Miller @ Ingelese and Billy Andrews @ HRE Motors and that was only for tuning purposes or testing. Besides that, I have declined eveyone else the pleasure of sitting behind the wheel while the car is moving.

Only my mechanic/friend has driven my car. My wife's afraid of it. Nobody else has really asked.

Hey Cranky, so does that mean I can drive the Turd at Watkins Glen???

First of all, without me in it, no one!!!!!
Second, only a person who had logged seat time in a Cobra.
Third, the wife.
In 2 1/2 years no one has driven my car but me....learned about this as a teenager with my motorcycle, a Triumph. I still have a motorcycle, a hopped up H-D and only one other person has rode it but me.
Most folks don't have a clue, they run out of experience when they let out the clutch.

The first time I got behind the wheel of my SPF (460/560), I hit the pedal a little toooo hard and I ended up doing a donut. My heart was racing and I learned to RESPECT the Snakes power instantly. I don't let anyone drive except for Nick Losurdo, the master mechanic/craftsman who did the install and ALL of the mods that have been done on my Snake. I have always refused invitations to drive any of my friends. It makes for peace of mind.

Let's see.......Me, me. me, an of course me! I made a point of terrifying my wife the first time she was in it (only for about 9 or 10 seconds, her arms were flapping around like she was trying to get airborne). She then told me that she wanted nothing to do with driving it. Loves to ride though!

Any of my friends can give me a ride in any of my cars if they ask nicely. I own stuff that most of my friends can't afford. My greatest happiness comes from sharing with them.

Default For a Republican I am a bit liberal.....

with the Cobra, that is. My wife drives it occasionally, but she is very mellow driver to begin with and would never dare lay on the throttle hard. Although, she did surprise herself, and me as well, last time we went out together on it, when she did lean into it a bit on an on ramp to the 5 Fwy North..... Wish I had had a camera to capture her facial expression. Still makes me smile thinking about it.

I have let several friends drive it, with me in the passenger seat. I always give them the 'handle it with respect' speech and I think that gives them just enough fear to keep things in check. Also, I think for those that are unfamiliar with a Cobra, the exhaust noise alone keeps them from crossing the line......

I agree with tpiini, I bought the car to drive as much as possible and enjoy see others get a kick out of it as well.

NOT TO HIJACK THE THREAD, BUT IN ADDITION TO WHOM YOU LET DRIVE YOUR COBRA, HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU TAKE PEOPLE OUT IN YOURS WITH THE INTENT TO SCARE THE SH!T OUT OF THEM.....???

My wife can drive anytime, she has cruised a bit in it but she says it is too much work. Mom and Dad can drive it anytime, not that their two Chevelle SS396 had the same power to weight ratio but I dare say the 295 BFGs are still better than the original Tiger Paw for putting the power down. A few buddies back home and a couple here can drive it anytime because the Cobra isn't as high performance as what they are used too. Then again, the Cobra is street legal. (Side note, I just realized I don't know any drag racers). My brother in law, 'cause if he breaks it he will make good on it.

All of these people I trust with it without me tagging along. Most of the people here on the club too for that matter.

If you want a good laugh, you should have seen my Mom giving one of her less nimble friends a ride. It was at least a ten minute six person ordeal for a two minute ride around the block!

Thumbs up

Steve,
Absolutely and just like when I drive anybody elses car the driver assumes full resposibility.

It's only a car no big deal.
