Well i would like to say i think this is the the way to go even just in the standard form and chiping the computor it is a goer . the size alone compared with the new Ford motors and the fact that you can buy new which Ford do not along with all the U.S. stuff being made for them . I have one on the water and due now for the project .
Love the pics may go that way after rego .

hsv300, Tis a good video, but I'm buggered if I can see the numerals on the speedo. Maybe I'll download the hi-res version.

Given it's in UK then it's all in MPH and I've been trying to make out his top speed.

Just goes to show how easy these things loose traction and how quick you got to be to stay on top of them.

I love it Mike.
Looks very old school, looks very 'hot rod' actually!
Have you had it running as yet?

Do we have to remind you Rob that Cobras would have had 'VW' engines had Chev come to the party?

I'll take that as a compliment there's nothing wrong with VW. The wife's got a new Jetta and we are verry happy with it.

Dont forget VW built the Bugatti Veyron 253MPH 1000HP super car. They also own Audi, Bently and Lamboghini among others.

Cheers

It's alive again!!

I've got it all plumbed up and I turned the key on the week end. It runs and idles beautifully with the new manifold on it.

I machined up a billet throttle linkage for it that incorporates 2 extra return springs. Its also adjustable so you can quickly change the return spring tension. It's wound out to the max at the moment as the springs are a bit long. I've machined the air cleaner base to take the Intake Air Temp sensor and the breather. The valley plate is an LS6 item and I've changed it slightly to make the PCV connection a bit neater.

Every thing that the factory manifold has plumbed or connected is there. The Carbon canister vent runs off the side of the manifold back to the purge valve mounted in the tunnel. The MAP sensor is connected to a vacume port off the back of the throttle body.

All I've got left to do is re route the wiring and shorten some of it but I don't want to do this till I've got an answer from the Engineer.

Very happy with the results so far.

Cheers

Thanks Les,

I see you've changed your sig to reflect your defection to the Dark Side. Congratulations! I reckon you've saved more than $5K especially when you consider the future performance potential that motor has. You are starting with a much higher base line.

I'm going to miss stiring you up.

Cheers

Mike, having today chatted with a local GM tuning shop they are telling me about 280Kw just with a tune and.......

Mafless is possible with this engine

I'm pleased

Dare I say a cam and some springs at a later date.

Mike,

Your build is a constant reminder of why I didn't go that route, I don't have the skill or the patience. It will be beautiful to behold and I can see you coming in the pits now.

Hmm... heard a sqeak, I know exactly where that came from... fixed in 30 seconds....

Will it make an apprarance on April 21st?

Cameron

Great work Mike, it looks the business!

Out of interest who's your engineer? Mine wouldn't OK that setup in a million years. It seems to be all about demonstrating pollution compliance. Be interested to hear how he gets your engine through in Vic.

Not taking anything away from your efforts though!

You're a bloody genious Mike, it looks fantastic

How is the throttle response? I'd be interested to throw the scanner on it to see what the FT's are doing.
When she's on the road I'll send my gear over so you can fine tune it....

Yep, I think I'm on first name basis with every nut and bolt on this car. I've even been invited home to meet some of their families.

I'm still going to try to get to ShelbyFest but it's been hard with me workload lately. Getting distracted with this intake stuff probably doesn't help my efforts either.

I've been working interstate a lot and away from home over week ends. That should all be finished hopefully by Easter so I plan to take a week off afterwards and put some serious work into the car.

I really want to get there if only to circulate around the track for a test and tune session.

Throttle response is great. The induction noise is wonderful. When you first fire it up the sucking noise from the throttle body is really loud. Once the IAC kicks in and regulates the idle this seems to quieten right down. I reckon I'm going to have to pull the under body system off and put my side pipes on this week end just to hear the thing roar.

The engineer I've been dealing with is Collin Young but I've been having trouble geting hold of him recently. He used to engineer Robnel's cars and he did Leeroy's CR as well. I haven't got any answer on this induction setup but I won't know if I don't try.

Les, it sounds like you have the bug. Good for you.

Cheers
