Ok the quote for the L76 and all the bits has arrived. For everything forward of the flywheel and including fly-by-wire accelerator pedal and everything necessary to start the engine (full list available, PM me) it comes to $11,645. That includes $1000 to re-tune the PCM to ignore airbags, etc. The only thing is that this supplier is asking $7500 for the crate engine, whereas the one mentioned earlier in this thread is $6500. Food for thought.

I may be completely ignorant here (and in reality, that is pretty bloody likely )- but I cant understand why this would cost that much? Is it not just a case with these things of plugging it in, setting the parameters and uploading the new program? Once you have the software required to do so, surely this is just a 15 minute job.

Dunno, Plums would be more qualified to answer that.

I wasn't aware that the airbags had any impact with the new generation PCM's, perhaps it's something I haven't seen yet. As far I am aware, (for all models, LS1/6, LS2, L76, L98) the only "essential" thing you need to do is turn VATS (Vehicle Anti-Theft System) off.
If you have an LS1 and ONLY want VATS turned off (the minimum required to make the engine run, ie. no performance tuning), I wouldn't charge anywhere near $1000. For a full MAFLess mail order custom tune, I have charged a few people from this forum as little as $200.
Why do Doctors charge $10K for fake boobs??? Because they can...

Hehe tell me about it. Except in this case both suppliers are Vic based. The one in Melbourne just happens to be asking more than the regional supplier, no surprises there!

Without actually knowing which suppliers you are talking about, I assume they are Ballarat Holden and Holmart (Moorabbin).
I got my package from Mick at Holmart and ended up with a great deal, (he was good to deal with too)... Tell him the price the other mob can do it for and he may be able to do something for you!!!

Ballarat yes, and the other one is Bay City Holden in Frankston - they're even selling them on eBay. Thanks for the tip, I'll be talking to Holmart as well now that I know.

I can assure you that holmart are asking $6500.00 maybe $6400.00 ( if you're as cute as me )for the L76, GST paid.

Hi Sambo,
I've also been speaking with the guy in Ballarat and got the same quote for the L76 ($10k). I also asked about the same package for the LS2 which his reply was $13217.
I'll be interested to hear how you go at Holmart.

Luke, did you get a detailed list of items in that 10k quote? Be interested to compare as there were lots of little things that I hadn't even considered.

I'm waiting for a full list. It was supposed to be here yesterday.
We can compare when we have them.
Cheers
