Default Wiring Diagram

I am doing the wiring on my Harrison and was wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram or description of the ignition, turn signals, hazard and head light dipper set up that Warwick uses? I think it is Ford Laser. Would make life easier with the connections to the "Painless" loom!

doing the column is a pain in the butt even if i have dagrams i dont use them

i get a mulitmeter and just test all the wires by switching switches and stuff

check yr engineer but last cobra i did had to have the pass lights switch working

which means when lights are off u have to be able to pull back on the lever and hi beam should turn on

this is a pain to set up cause means u have to wire up headlights exactly like factory laser then

headlights can be positive or negative triggered

i try to simplify it and always use neg trigger but then u need to use extra relays and diodes to get the pass to work

this is the most time consuming part of wiring them up the steering column

the ignition swithc should be easy

sometimes on back of switch the wires are labelled check on the black plastic where wires solder into ignition switch right behind key

Good question Merv. I'm facing the same problem with my off the shelf loom. I was planning on connecting the column's main power/ground wires to my battery (via a fuse) and using a test light to determine the function of all the coloured wires by going flicking all the switches one by one.

I believe most if not all Ford looms are colour coded the same, so if you can get hold of any Ford manual, that might be another option.

Paul

Edit: Sideshow beat me to it - nice to know my not-so-scientific approach does work!

Thanks. I thought that someone would have done this already and know which colours are for which function. It is Ford Laser (I have the 90's Mazda manual)? Will call warwick tomorrow to check that anyway.

Thanks again Sideshow. Most helpful, as usual. Yes it is a Laser module and with a test light I have worked out most of the connections. Also found a Mazda Protege manual (same as laser) on BitTorrents.

However, a few wires are 'left over' on Hazard and Indicator set up. On the Indicators: I suspect that FU is a common terminal for the two turn signals (TL and TR) and on the Hazard that HBA means a connection to the battery perhaps via relay and FB is the Hazard 'on' and TIG or T1G - well no idea - perhaps to ignition? On the lights plug I suspect that HU is hi beam and that HL is low beam and TNS is ?? lights on/only? and at the top of that plug HB is not needed?

Confusing stuff but getting there I guess. Got some great pics from Geof!

Merv & Sambo
I did this myself but I am in Texas right now and dont have the wiring diagrams to share with you however.
I got quite a bit of info off 07COB. He was bloody helpful email him.
I ended up using the painless headlight switch as the laser one got to complicated. This balanced the wiper switch out on the dash which I also used from painless The ignition switch is easy follow side shows comments. The hazard light can be used along with the indicator. There must be a range of wiring codes for lasers as I found many different ones and in the end did just what side show says but try 07COB. If not, I am back in 2 weeks and can send some photos.

Could not get that thru Paul as it is 81MB! Have sent email with some advice about how to get the manual.

Getting there slowly but still with a couple of extra wires around. Tested indicators, hi beam. low beam and pass and hazard lites and they seem to work with power from a battery charger.

Relay for wipers is also under way now that I have realised that the wiring instructions from Harrisons list different colours to those on the kit for the Lucas-type motor. I have collected the coding for Lucas switches also. Is a matter of matching up the right positions hopefully.

This is the first I've heard of electrical diagrams from Harrison - certainly not in my build manual! Will speak to Warwick when he gets back.

Re Castlemaine's wiper kit, is that the FX-FJ or EJ-EH kit found on page 2 of this catalogue? AccessoryProducts.pdf

If not, what's the make/model that you guys are talking about?

Thanks

Sideshow, I notice that my BA Ford Fuel pump has 4 connectors on it and I can only see a need for 2 (+ve from a relay and a ground). Question is which 2? (Part number BA935OA).

Hope this is not too much trouble.

Merv, we don't have a fax here on my floor but you should be able to print that PDF from the CRS website - provided you have access to a printer.
