A couple of years ago I was on a Barra fishing trip in the far north, we came around a bend in the river to see a croc dragging a water buffalo across the river and up the bank on the other side, the buffalo was not a little one, but the croc made it look very small.
The croc we guessed at well over 5 metres.

Default Chasing photos!!!

Hey Guys ,
I'm chasing some pictures of MIKE MOORES satanic black cobra last seen tearing apart at 260+k's on the runway at one of the last West Wyalong Nationals if not the last one up there...
For those that were there you'll surely remember it and the controversy it stirred up.
Any way guys please have a dig around if you think you may have some !!!

Thanks in advance Paul

We have been chasing them Bernie,i see mike regulary and we always talk of the car but we have no pic's of it, of course you have the horsepower part of the car .
I actually thought you may have had some, for some reason i have heaps of all the other cars from that year bar Mike's car guess we were to busy mucking around with it at the time!!
I just hope there are some pic's tucked away in someones album..So a call again to the West Wyalong pilgrams for photos of that year!!!
Would you recall what year that was Bernie????
None of my pic's are dated!!!

I am not sure of the year but is over 10 years ago as I was at the Western Beach home with the engine in the garage on a stand.

Default Sorry We Missed You at the Nationals Bernie

Unfortunately, my car wasn't ready this time, so we didn't end up getting to the Nationals until the Sunday morning. I don't know if you turned up this year Bernie, but I will definately be there for the duration in 2010 and looking forward to your company again.

Baz

I made a quick run up Thursday arriving just prior to the lunch break and stayed until lunch Friday.

..

It was good to catch up with everyone there.

There were a few GT40's there both competing and parked in the garages, so I managed to get a few photos and speak with some owners.

Yes look forward to 2010. Be good to catch up and see the Cobra in the flesh so to speak...

It looks great.

Default Mike's RAT Cobra

OZCOBRA, I have a shot or two of Mike's rat Cobra if your still looking. They might only be during the show in the motel ground's. I'll see what i have and scan them for you.

As for the year, i reckon '96 or '97. With the Maroon car he ran the top speed of 240 k's at WW1in '95, I'm sure he brought the car in Maroon again for WW2 - '96, so I think '97 was when he brought the rat. It generated some angst among the organiser's, especially when it flew to bits on the runway run and left a black scar up the side of his helmet. Cop's also had a few words with him when they found him 'testing' it in the back streets after completing it in the motel room.

That was George V's first cobra race car - #98 in its R&D stages... (the belt buckled fella is George...)

Mikes car had a single piece shell, when it started to lift off the frame at high speed, mike just helped it up and out of his line of vision so he could keep the pedal to the metal - which as you know is Mikes thing! We missed the fun and festivities the year the body went skyward..

-Todd

edit - Dad, I was about 10 when you let me go in that Supercharged Cobra... he said it was faster than Mike's, but we topped out at 235km/h cause of the gearing or something. From memory we were there in about 2/3 of the runway!
