Very good Paul! I do remember being booked for the first time near Tenterfield at 2am by a copper in a Mini Cooper S in swimming togs, and nothing else. I paid a fortune in postage at the time to pay the fine, but paid in copper coins.

Not for repeating here but.....a rally car, a milk tanker, a detective, said detective's ex missus (barmaid), said detective's ex missus' girlfriend and a barrister
I can tell you that 3 piece suites were not the fashion in Bega Courthouse in the early '80's. The barrister cost me a motza but we still laugh about it
Cheers

Ha Ha Ha...see the new (NSW) state government is going to assess the validity of speed cameras. Whether they are revenue raisers or valid black spot safety monitors/ deterrents.
I bet they don't remove any!

Back to the subject...I had a Datsun 1600 import. (bought it from the wreckers for $550.00 bucks) Put a big cam in it and drove like an idiot. This day I naturally 'accepted' a race and came over a rise at high speed to be confronted by a copper frantically waving me down. He didn't have time to grab the 'Sign' ....the other bastard got away. As I was getting fined the other cop pulled over a bloke on a bike...no licence, no rego, not his bike, thongs, no helmet and speeding. The cop writing my ticket wrote down the speed and told me to wait to the last day to pay the fine as by the time the fine was processed my "P" licence would have expired and I would keep my licence. Man I was so grateful for that cops attitude. The other poor bugger on the bike had to wait in the cop car till they were finished that day and then went for a ride with them! The bad thing about that was the cop station was about 15 klm back and the bikers destination was 5 klm the other way. He would have had to walk.

Maybe the best drive of his career in F1. A great race, and he is showing what he CAN do when pushed- he sure as hell had the bit between his teeth today

Out bush again.
I figured rather than starting a thread about me out bush, I would toss some pics in here.
I am out on a longer trip than normal this time (1.5 weeks before Easter and a week following), and I had tracked down some cars I planned to drag home earlier.
So number 1 on the list of cars to bring home was a VH Charger, I have seen it before and really feel it is only good for parts, I have a guy wanting a fair chunk of the floor/wheel wells and boot area to restore his E38 that sadly in the 80's had wheel tubs fitted.
But I might try the whole car on eBay first.
Here it is as found.
And with a r/h front hub and r/h rear axle fitted (these where missing) and now a set of wheels under it.
At my nightly accommodation.
And at home.

I needed to refuel the car, here is the cheapest I could find
It was $2.20 further west.
And some bits and pieces I have gathered to stick on Ebay.
From an old Toyota Stout.
XT or XR Ford.
VE Valiant.
Rust free EJ/EH panelvan.
I reckon this one belonged on Mad Max.
VF Valiant.
Then I got a Puncture.
This one is from a VF VIP Valiant, I have plans for it.

Next car to get onto the trailer was the rest of that VF VIP.
They are a fairly rare car but sadly it is beyond fixing.
I will use the driveline out of it and sell the rear doors (longer than standard) and the rear window pressing area (smaller rear window).
I will also use the grille and front guards (or at least headlight buckets).
Here is the VIP.
And engine.
Here it is on the trailer.
You may or may not have noticed the wheel on the trailer.
Luckily it looks worse than it is, a Bolt fell out about 500 metres from home.

So guess what I am doing tonight.
And here is a car I picked up within Alice Springs on Easter Sunday.
This is where the VIP front and the driveline will get fitted to in a few years (gotta finish Charger first)

Great pics Dave. I used to have a Valiant Regal 770 coupe. Great looking car, wish I still had it.

Good help is hard to find.
Working in the shed when the young fella happened to be walking past, somehow there was a time spatial discontinuity and he was out of his bedroom and not on the laptop all at once. So I yell to him 'Hey mate, grab me a tin of cats p!ss, this bolt's tight'.
Several minutes pass and he comes back with an aerosol pack of Caterpillar Yellow Primer.
Me "WTF are you doin' mate, I wanted cats p!ss"
Him "Well, it;s yellow and it says Cat on the can"
Sometimes the only option is to roll around on the shed floor in the chooksh!t and laugh.
Kids, who'd want them?!!
Anyone else have a problem with chooks invading your space? Every morning I open the shed they (3 out of 5) just rock in and do the rounds. The black chook is car mad, jumps on the cobra and does a walk, then in the cockpit, then scouts the boot space before leaving. I wonder if CS had the same problem? Prolly worse for him being a chook farmer. Ours are just pets
