Maybe the best drive of his career in F1. A great race, and he is showing what he CAN do when pushed- he sure as hell had the bit between his teeth today:D

Hey Mods,

What's the deal with double posts, every time I enter a post I get a double entry?

trularin 04-18-2011 05:57 AM

Hi youall, how are things in the land of the free ?;)

Out bush again.

I figured rather than starting a thread about me out bush, I would toss some pics in here.
I am out on a longer trip than normal this time (1.5 weeks before Easter and a week following), and I had tracked down some cars I planned to drag home earlier.
So number 1 on the list of cars to bring home was a VH Charger, I have seen it before and really feel it is only good for parts, I have a guy wanting a fair chunk of the floor/wheel wells and boot area to restore his E38 that sadly in the 80's had wheel tubs fitted.
But I might try the whole car on eBay first.
Here it is as found.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...0/SDC10266.jpg

And with a r/h front hub and r/h rear axle fitted (these where missing) and now a set of wheels under it.

At my nightly accommodation.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20604Small.jpg

And at home.

I needed to refuel the car, here is the cheapest I could find :)
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20803Small.jpg

It was $2.20 further west.

And some bits and pieces I have gathered to stick on Ebay.

From an old Toyota Stout.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20869Small.jpg

XT or XR Ford.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20870Small.jpg

VE Valiant.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20871Small.jpg

Rust free EJ/EH panelvan.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20872Small.jpg

I reckon this one belonged on Mad Max.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20861Small.jpg

VF Valiant.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20909Small.jpg

Then I got a Puncture.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20642Small.jpg

This one is from a VF VIP Valiant, I have plans for it.

boxhead 04-27-2011 10:15 PM

Next car to get onto the trailer was the rest of that VF VIP.
They are a fairly rare car but sadly it is beyond fixing.
I will use the driveline out of it and sell the rear doors (longer than standard) and the rear window pressing area (smaller rear window).
I will also use the grille and front guards (or at least headlight buckets).
Here is the VIP.

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20714Small.jpg

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...1/P1020702.jpg

And engine.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...1/P1020699.jpg

Here it is on the trailer.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20967Small.jpg

You may or may not have noticed the wheel on the trailer.
Luckily it looks worse than it is, a Bolt fell out about 500 metres from home.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20968Small.jpg
So guess what I am doing tonight.

And here is a car I picked up within Alice Springs on Easter Sunday.
This is where the VIP front and the driveline will get fitted to in a few years (gotta finish Charger first)

Great pics Dave. I used to have a Valiant Regal 770 coupe. Great looking car, wish I still had it.

Good help is hard to find.

Working in the shed when the young fella happened to be walking past, somehow there was a time spatial discontinuity and he was out of his bedroom and not on the laptop all at once. So I yell to him 'Hey mate, grab me a tin of cats p!ss, this bolt's tight'.
Several minutes pass and he comes back with an aerosol pack of Caterpillar Yellow Primer.
Me "WTF are you doin' mate, I wanted cats p!ss"
Him "Well, it;s yellow and it says Cat on the can"
Sometimes the only option is to roll around on the shed floor in the chooksh!t and laugh.

Kids, who'd want them?!!

Anyone else have a problem with chooks invading your space? Every morning I open the shed they (3 out of 5) just rock in and do the rounds. The black chook is car mad, jumps on the cobra and does a walk, then in the cockpit, then scouts the boot space before leaving. I wonder if CS had the same problem? Prolly worse for him being a chook farmer. Ours are just pets

sambo 05-02-2011 07:50 PM

A pet fox will solve your problems. :D

Modena 05-03-2011 03:24 AM

spray the chook with the Cat primer?

Rog246 05-03-2011 03:28 AM

Its Mother's day on Sunday...........how about roast chook for dinner ?!!?

WoW It's amazing where the valiant Chargers ended up. They weren't cheap in their day and Chryslers weren't the most popular vehicle in their time either but they were up there with the other two manufacturers in the price range. I really liked the police chargers. (please forgive I can't remember the model) but a friend was a copper at the time and he bought and built his charger to the specs of a police highway patrol vehicle...It handled like a go cart !!! Friggin scary in the passenger seat. !! I loved it.

trularin 05-13-2011 12:34 PM

Like those pics of discarded cars.

You never know what you are going to find.

:D

boxhead 05-14-2011 04:25 AM

Talking about old Valiant police cars.
All of the following are x cop cars I have found out bush, except the VK sedan, I bought that in Alice for the V8 driveline.
First is a VF sedan, the only way to tell on this model was tha factory color code.
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20900Small.jpg

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20905Small.jpg

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20904Small.jpg

This is a VJ Charger K10 code car (265 with 3spd floor shift) it had the same LSD diff, rear springs, steering box, sway bar as the R/T chargers.
It is one of 11 (so I have been told?) built for SA police force.
I have seen an original picture of the car with all 11 lined up (I also have the original number plate for shed art)
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...9/PICT0014.jpg

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...SDC10544-1.jpg

This one is a CM sedan, very late build date (within a couple os months of production end), it is a 6 cylinder auto sedan (Detective car).
http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...20849Small.jpg

And here is the K14 VK sedan I bought

Modena 05-14-2011 05:41 AM

Dave, where do all these cars in the dust come from? Who puts them there? Why?

boxhead 05-14-2011 06:30 AM

They are all through out the APY lands in far north west South Australia.
