Default What is this?

This is a component that came on on my Mustang 302 EFI harness. I did not see it come off the original but I suspect that it may be part of the emission control system (air pump, etc) and therefore may be surplus to requirements. Any ideas? Sorry about the thumbnail pic - could not reduce it enough otherwise.

I think I can partly answer my own question now as I found the Painless manual on the harness. It is the Vacuum Regulator Solenoid (EVR). But still not sure what it connects to and if it MUST be used.

You are a myopic lot! Will try to get a new pic posted IF I can keep it below the low kb level allowed.

Mate, It's extremely easy to post decent pics on this site and there have been several threads explaining how. Try doing a bit of a search and having a read before having a rant.

The easiest way is to upload the pic to your gallery. You are best to shrink it down a bit using a photo editor program. I use 1024x768 pixels that way you will have a medium size pic and a supersize version to chose from in your gallery.

When you want to post a picture into your thread open up your gallery in another browser window. Find the pic you want and click on it so It's large size (not a thumbnail). Scroll down below the pic and you will see there is the hyperlink text all printed out for you ready to go. Select the hypertext, copy it and paste it straight into your thread. When people open your thread the hyper text automatically grabs the pic and posts it into your thread for you.

Too bloody easy.

You shoulda listened Les - actually I was wrong it is Hyperopia (can't see close things). Not sure if that gets you off the hook...

Thanks Mike I will print that advice and follow it when I can re-photo that part. Maybe a good idea to load the instructions on the website somewhere for newcomers.

Merv

Still not sure if the Vacuum Regulator Solenoid is a must?

I'm just guessing but it sounds like the purge solenoid. On the LS1 as part of it's emissions there is a solenoid valve that connects the manifold to the carbon canister. The ECU controls it to regulate the engine vacume that goes to the carbon canister to suck the fuel vapours out of it.

Cheers

Here's a useful thread about picture resizing and posting them into your threads.

Nuh, tis presbyopia Merv. ie reduced accommodative amplitude caused by advancing age and mis-spent childhood.

same effect for hearing...

Everyone seems to remove many the 'smog' controls (air pump system and ancillaries) from the Ford motor - just not sure which ones. I can see that some have connected the EGR vacuum line to the small vacuum on the plenum and that would seem to indicate that the EVR solenoid is not needed?

I agree 100% Sideshow - it took me all of 5 minutes to post 50 decent size pics this morning. Completely unacceptable - you should boycott this site (or learn how to fuking use it).

This is a pic of the Vacuum Regulator Solenoid (EVR) from the Ford EFI. I am still unsure if it NEEDS to connected.

Also there is a component that I seem to be missing: the Barometric Pressure Switch. Again, must I go hunting for that?

Merv

PS thanks for the tip re posting pics - the trick was to know to have TWO windows open at the same time!

I will keep my mouth shut.

An easy way I find to resize pictures is to simply email them to myself, it asks me if I want to send smaller pics.
