Default Vz ve ?

Sambo, I'm pretty sure yours is VZ, as your original sump is totally different to mine i.e. VE. Peter.

Peter, I agree mate. I had another look at things tonight and based on the fact that my VZ balancer sits 3/4" further out than the VE/LS3 item, I think a couple of 3/4" spacers behind my P/S and alternator will line the belt up nicely (water pump and tensioner already line up OK) and it may even solve the problem with the rail.

I'm going to concentrate on the wiring for now and solve this riddle later - when the car goes back to Kenmer for the other little bits and pieces.

Nice donk! Longest serpentine belt that I have ever seen. One would need a spare in the trunk.

Are you referring to this one Merv? Only real fake Cobras have these engines.

Sambo,

I came across the same problem as you, (with the pulleys not lining up) but in my case it was in reverse.

I just put an LS3 in my VY Commodore and after the job was nearly finished I noticed that the balancer was set back too far. It was a simple job to just fit a stock LS1 balancer, but a job I didn't plan for....

Plums, at least your accessories were all LS1... I have a mixture. LS3 in a VY - that'll go nicely!

Anyone looking for straight "water neck" thermo housings for LS engines, these look decent for $50 USD.

Add the fitting for another $20.

Yes Sambo, the LS3 does go well..... the cam I slotted in ensures that

The motor that came out of the car is now sitting in the Dragster.....

Exclamation Beware - Extreme oil use motor!!

Nice looking donk, for a US government product!

It'd look good in a Chev engine bay!!

Bit worried about design faults or are they planning for high volume oil loss?

How often will you need to replace the oil filter off the passenger side manifold? And is there a matching one on the driver's side too?

Cheers
