Ditto to Jams,
I also had a fair amount of knowledge about cars, but in no way was I a mechanic by trade or car builder. The mechanical part to me was the easy part. The bodywork, interior, plumbing were much more difficult. Of course I believe that the majority of people have someone else do the paint and body work and also many buy a crate engine, so those two things can be simplified.
I wanted to do "all of it" by myself, but I agree with Jams in that this forum gave me a great deal of guidance through the build.
After completing it, I would not have chosen another manufacturer or done it any different!
