Default New Car Has Arrived!

Rolled off the truck and into the garage a couple of hours ago. I had to special order it to get it exactly the way I wanted it. No stripes, because I plan on adding ghost flames.

The pipes, headers, and roll bars will be ceramic coated semi gloss black.

Eventually, it will get high back seats and a leather steering wheel.

BTW, I think the date is very appropriate.

The headers fit kinda wierd, but OK.

Eventually, this will fit under the hood. Shooting for around 700'ish hp. Give or take.

There are a couple of things I'm not totally happy about right off the bat. I paid for paint protection. But it's pretty minimal. It doesn't cover up enough of the front to do a good job. And there's none behind the rear tires. If I were to do it again, I would skip it, and get it done locally.

The headlights and turn signals have a rubber trim behind the chrome trim. That sits up considerably higher than the chrome trim and body line. Just doesn't fit well.

It comes with an assembly manual. Sort of. It's about 10 pages. And none of it applies to my engine.

It does come with a functioning electrical and brake system though. That surprised me.

Put those headers on the other side unless you want them sticking out the wheel wells

Even worse! If you put the other header on the same side, the exit is even further forward.

Congrats on the puchase!

Ps. I suspect he meant you may need to flip them 180degrees.

Very nice.

On the headlight gaskets, you can flip them inside out to make them disappear...

Congrats on your new ride. Please post pics when the project is complete. You will be as thrilled with your new Backdraft ride as I was when I took ownership of my new Backdraft. And I still enjoy that thrill every time I fire up the 427 under the hood.

Finally, after more than a year and a half of messing around, I have a drivable car! I really need to get used to driving one of these again; it's been two years.

This car is FAST! It has so much power that I really have to peddle it to keep it moving in a straight line. If I just mash it, it will boil the tires and turn left. It is very quick, and the transmission shifts so fast, you just can't believe it. Just tooling down the highway the engine is just above an idle. It's a real torque monster. If I shift it manually, I can get the engine to really scream, and it's glorious! I have not had the engine above 5,500 or so. Yet.

I added high back seats. I just didn't like the BDR seats. They're raised about 2" in the front, But I think I need to go another 1". I'll play with it until I get to what I like.

The steering is not as tight and precise as I would like it to be. It's manual, and not power. But it still seems to have a dead spot in the center. When I can get it on the rack I can get a better look at it.

The trans tunnel is so wide, that operating the gas pedal is a little awkward and uncomfortable.

I think I'm going to add cruise control. There are a couple of companies that make add on systems for the Coyote. Should be almost a simple plug and play. Sounds good on paper, doesn't it?

It's good to be back in a Cobra again.

Just curious Bob, how do you find the BDR vs the FF you had? I know the engine is different but am asking because there is a beautiful BDR with a 390 and a crossram Weber setup. I am in love with it but it is not cheap!

It's a beautiful car. The fit and finish is excellent. The assembly appears to be top notch. Everywhere I look, I see good things.

I haven't been able to drive it much, winter has set in. I hated the stock seats, so I swapped them out for something better and more comfortable.

The seating position is very different. The tunnel is bigger, and the seats are pointed out more. I find it's easier and more comfortable to brake with my left foot, and throttle with my right. I want to play with the seat position a little more, and see if I can improve on that.

The gauges have domed glass faces. They reflect a lot of light, and they can be difficult to see. At some point, I think I'd like to replace them with some white face gauges. The tach is hidden behind the steering wheel, and impossible to see.

I LOVE the 6 speed auto trans! It is just a dream to drive.

The supercharge Coyote is a monster. I have to be real careful, because it will roast the tires at almost any speed. But it starts right up with a touch of a button. In traffic it's smooth, and very easy to drive. If the weather will ever warm up, I'm looking forward to getting a lot more miles on it. So far, I'v only driven it around town.

Congratulations, I really like the car and that is a beautiful color. Once you have it all to your liking post some videos of it running and you driving it.

Great car. Enjoy it. What seats did you change to? Im looking to change mine also but i'm concerned about the width of those i look at. My BDR seats are 18" and everything i find is 20 or more.

Surprisingly enough, this fit under the hood without any mods.

The stock seats

Cobra Clubman seats. I had them in my FFR, and really liked them. Inexpensive, comfortable, easy to install. I'll play with the mounts in my copious free time until I get them where I like.

I also did this.
