DV/capteddie,
I did not remember that you were putting an automatic trans in your Cobra.

What last post that cracked you up:confused:

How come there looks like there are 2 throttle cables? Is that something to do with the auto transmission??

Double Venom 03-15-2009 05:21 PM

O.F.M.,
Yes, top cable is actually throttle, the bottom one is the "kickdown" cable. When Ed pushes the throttle down so...far the C-6 will automatically drop to the next lower gear or into 1st. (Of course we know he will never need to do that! :) )

This is how I put in the external latches. Picture 1 shows the original shaft cut and a twist that puts the 'foot' where I want it when the hood is closed. If you don't put a twist in it (heat-vice grips and a vise) when the hood is closed the handle will never be pointed correctly!

Hope these help who ever is installing these type of latches. (The lower bracket is +/- 1/8th inch strap steel x 1" and bent into the large 'U', then is fiberglassed in place, when dried I drill one hole through the body on each end of the strap then I use 10-32 scres and nuts to also hold it in place.)

Been really busy with work. Hopping out to New Jersey every other week for a project for work. Heading back there tomorrow.

So Saturday the 4th of April works better for you? That's fine for me. I head over on the 4th. Ordered a Serpent Express trailer last Friday :3DSMILE: Its all aluminum and is about 6 to 8 weeks before its ready to be picked up.

See you in 2 weeks. Let me know if you need anything!!! :3DSMILE:

Double Venom 03-23-2009 04:52 PM

Great,
Unless you make a good Santa Claus OR a good weather man :) I don't ned anything. If you get that trailer before the 4th (I know unlikely) bring it with you and I'll park it here for awhile. If you still want to bring a passenger, they're welcome too!

I think the earliest the trailer will be ready is the 27th of April. When its ready for pick up. I have to get it in Three Rivers MI. So I was hoping I could pick it up and just bring it to your place till the car is done. Sound like a plan? And yes... My buddy Derek is dyeing to see the car, so he'll probably be tagging along on the 4th.

capteddie 03-23-2009 05:13 PM

The trailer is all aluminum like this one. Dark blues fabric with 2 white strips :3DSMILE:

I also got it 16' in length. That way it could hold.... say a mustang if needed ;)

or two cobras perhaps...

Double Venom 03-24-2009 11:58 AM

Cpteddie,
Question; I just finiahed sanding the engine compartment wheel tubs. I'll put a little filler in to seal the factory seems, but..............
Do you want them painted as they came...semi black?
Or, as I do most of the custome cars I do, paint them the color of the car?
Heck for all I care what color you choose, how about pink !? :D
DV
PS Stipes first though

capteddie 03-24-2009 12:17 PM

DV
You can paint them the same color as the car.

By the way.... no pink was planned in the finsh %/

Thanks for the thread

Just wanted to take a sec to thank everyone involved with this thread.... with a special thanks to DV of course. I've just started my build of an older Classic Roadster and I'm sure all the tips included here will be priceless.

My roadster kit has had two previous owners, neither of whom started the build. It's taken me over a year to collect most of the missing components... but thanks to me receiving most of what I ordered from GLR, and by purchasing some key parts here on this forum, I have most of what I need.

Thanks again.

Double Venom 03-28-2009 05:09 AM

M.C.,
Thank you and I hope it works/helps you, but if you have been around for awhile you know my first question for 'new' guys is........ MSO, MSO, MSO?
Heavons I hope so!
DV

MotorcityCobra 03-28-2009 07:01 PM

No I don't.

This was originally a deal breaker for me until I talked to the Secretary of State's office (actually two of them) here in Michigan. They gave me the forms I will need to fill out, as well as "The instructions for Titling an Assembled Vehicle" (form BFS-72). They convinced me that not having the MSO was not a deal breaker, but I needed a signed letter from the previous owner that the MSO had been lost. They told me that the people that have problems are the ones that wait until they have the car completed and then find out what they should have done to document it, i.e., not only having signed receipts for wheels, engine, trans, etc. but also addresses and phone numbers of sellers (as is required).

Anyway, I am keeping an aptly titled MSO file, which includes everything I have so far except for an MSO.

There's no way my cobra is going to turn into an expensive flower pot. If I do have major issues with getting a title, I'll just use it for racing....

Regards, and thanks again for your input to this forum.

Double Venom 03-29-2009 08:59 AM

MC,
That is great news! :D Looked at your profile and it didn't have the state (?) listed. Where in Meeechigan are you? And one of the great deals about this state (and right now there are few and far deals) is the fact that Mi. is one of the few states that don't need an MSO!
Well done, guess I wont have to send you any potted plants!

It is exciting that -1- we have another new CR build going on and -2-your in Meeechigan no less!
DV
PS-Motorcity....hhmmmm :) ?
