Well almost- actually another one of those days when the hole saw decided to take a jump :(
Thake a look at Ed's 'maxi fuse', looks good, no? NO!!!!!!
After hours of trying to find out why the entire car went electrically dead I finally decided as a last resort to check the 'Maxi'. It sure looked good, went back to the car again and still nothing, OK-battry out, main hot cables off, hooked the ol' continuity tester to the 'Max' (never- ever had one of these blow before!) Yep no continuity.....Ground the back off and lo- and behold there it was!!!!!!!!!

My best guess is when the motor started to crank-after firing once- it hi-cupped almost like it was going to backfire, then nothing.........

In my book when a MAXI blows which is first OR last in line, depending on how you look at it all the relays should have cooked and every fuse in the car should have blown first-obviously that train of thought was wrong. All circuits where checked, proving A-OK!
I did find the main feed terminal was ever so loose causing an arc!

After pulling the Maxi I did find a slight burn on the terminal and the link inside the Maxi was definatley burned and not blown apart like it would have been had there been a major short! Ahh, just another one of those days..........

That bright spot-----must have been a reflection! :rolleyes: :o :)
However if you look at the little shiny spot across from the top hole you can see the reflection from my exhaust fan in the booth- a good 30 feet away! :)

My mistake.... Must of been the lack of sleep on my part ;) Just thought it was to oddly shaped to be a reflection :LOL:

Just so you get a confirmation, the dies, etc., did show up! Both letters and numbrs-nice set.. You might have to buy a bigger tool chest when you're all done! :D AND, if one is good is two better? Must be and thank you.
(Found the real reason why the 175 amp main fuse blew today.... finalizing under the dash, gas pedal is done and is ;) , well we'll let you make the final call on that one! Short.... Actually it was a short and not arching as I at first thought....John moved the small fuse box that was under the dash (3-fuses) and ended up touching the hot/feed bolt against the choke cable when the dash was put back in!) That fuse box is now GONE!. Just the main box in the trunk now! Bettter this way anyway.

KLOTZ is praying we have your car until the 25th! They want it in their show! They even have a portable Dyno in case you and or George show with the Willy's :D :LOL: :rolleyes: Gonna be some noise in this town that day!

Nope-no fires, no damage, a little pride maybe :o So, you want a big piece of fiberglass and don't have one available, what do you do? Simple, glass two pieces of fiberglass together and finish them out.

OK, now what is the ol' fart up too? Remember a few entries earlier on this page? (Wires everywhere!?)

(I don't know why the "splatter trunk paint" looks so blotchy in the photo's? The entire trunk is a uniform dark gray with "splatter" through out!

Final, almost, trim pieces installed on the edges and around the fuse box, re-wired to get rid of a "added on" fuze box under the dash, and we have a complete built in fuse box and battery With remote hook ups for jump starting, or even to charge the battery incase someone forgets to turn off the master switch! :o

Sort of a shame to hide that 'billett' battery holder and the pretty yellow 'Optima' battery- but safety is safety.

It may appear to be advancing slowly, but that is so far from the truth! So many little details....
Earlier I mentioned using 'push button' type door latches- they would work great in a street rod where the button is actually in the door using only a very short cable but to use in a CR Cobra we found out it is not feasible. A tremendous amount of 'thumb' strenght would be needed to pop the locks due to the geometry and the lenght of the cable. (They use the same type pull cable as CR's used.)

So, back to the parts store, I went through four different types of handles (all to wide to fit in the given/allocated area.) I found an old style, type handle that will work.

Pictures show un-modified, modified and ready for installation.

Since 'chrome' looked a little splashy with Ed's interior I removed the chrome finish, re-sealed the handles and then painted a wrinkle finish medium gray. Next, we'll install.....

Ed do you have a part number for those handles or where I could get them. Dave

Got them off the old "HELP" stand from Car Quest, GM handles, one left, one right part number for one of them is 77025-however after I did the modifications I think you Could use the same handle for both sides! I'll post pictures of where and how I installed them to cpteddies car. Basically the same place that the manual calls for.

Plan B:
Handles are great, but I didn't like the bushings I had to manufacture. The bracket ended up much wider than it needed to be and with the larger bushings. It also had 'some' wobble to the handle. I do not like 'wobble' :mad: .

Got a new one made and much, much better-er :D
I'll post pictures of the new bracket tomorrow. Long day when you start before 4 AM.......:cool:

Ran probably a hundred tests, Like Edison said I didn't fail 2,7?? times making the light bulb but I did find out that 2,77? bulbs didn't work. It only took ONE to make it right!!

MSD Male/Female connector was together BUT< NOT TIGHT. "Clicked" into place at the litest touch and your baby fired up on first crank!

Finishing the nose today, the front wiring tomorrow and MONDAY it will be at BAKKERS.
