Putting the battery flip-flapper up on the dash was a gutsy move from an aesthetics standpoint, but me being a pure "function over form" kinda guy, I think it makes 100% perfect sense, and it turned out looking really awesome to boot... fits the racecar personality of this build perfectly {thumbsup}

Installed the master cylinders, pedal assembly, and the remaining hydraulic hardlines. Still waiting for fittings to connect the reservoirs to the master cylinders

Keep up the great work Bill. Cheers, Glen |
Installed the drivers side floor panel temporarily until I'm sure the brakes work correctly and nothing needs to be removed. After that I'll make a cover panel for the hole

Hoses installed. Ready to fill and bleed the brakes. Will fabricate a heat shield to protect the master cylinders from heat from the exhaust pipes since they run underneath the car.

Looks nice Bill. Smart idea to install a heat shield as it would not take too long to over heat the brake fluid. It's really coming along. What brake fluid are you planning to use?
After you bleed the brakes, what is the next step? Jim |

After taking several months off from my build, I jumped back in with a new found energy and drive. First up was getting the oil cooler scoop fabricated correctly. Two failed attempts by two different places cost me $700 and all I got was junk. This time I transported the body to Full Scale Hotrods in Ventura, CA. Three weeks later, I now have the correct aluminum scoop in was after. It was made with .040 3003 aluminum sheet. The front lip was bent over for the correct look. It was then hand forced into shape, then weld welded to the mounts. It was well worth the $1000

Door sills made. Body was "trimmed" to get them to lay flat

Hooked up a battery charger and checked all the circuits. Everything worked but the horn. After an hour checking the entire circuit inch by inch, I narrowed it to the steering column shaft not being grounded. If the footboxes had been metal, no problem. But the glass boxes insulated it. Had to attach a small wire from the bearing plate in which the shaft passes through in the footboxes to ground. Now the horn works. Electrical complete.
I still have to deal with reworking the door hinges. Currently, when everything is installed, you can only open the doors part way and then the front edge hits the body. It's unfortunate I wasn't informed of this early on. |
Bill,
Great to see that you are back at it. There is nothing that you cannot over come. All of us have to deal with little set backs along the day, but we keep on moving forward. Cannot wait to hear the sound of your can running. Keep up the great work. JIm |

I received a notice from photobucket that they will no longer allow 3rd party hosting unless I upgrade my account and pay monthly. So all my imbedded pics on the cobra forums disappeared. F**k them.
a work around if you right click on the photobucket image substitution/block thing that says update your account in one of your post and say open in another window, the photo will show up. it a pain but it works. |
Bill,
Every time you turn around someone is sticking their hand in your pockets. Keep up the great work. Jim |
Bill, please DON'T pull this thread. We can all do the "work around". There are too many guys who have been following this thread. We want to see the finished product.:)
