Mick:
I drilled a 32nd pilot hole for the bottom of the bracket. I linked together 3 pieces of copper strand and it went in about 5 inches before it hit something solid. I drilled the pilot hole approx. 61/2 inches from the top of the console tunnel. Thats why I was thinking it was made up of two pieces with a hollow center. The only other thing I can think of is that I went a bit low and I am hitting the chassis or something. I looked underneath, but didn't see any thing sticking through.
