 Dan,
Our wipers are supposed to park on the passenger's side (as original). If yours don't, there's something wrong in the setup, either within the wiper motor or the wheelbox installation.

 | Hmm - guess I need to check some more originals out. The photos of original street cars I looked at this morning parked on the driver side. Impossible to reverse with the ERA wiper arms as they are bent to only park on the pass side. If parked on the driver side the blades would be sticking straight up and down.

Interesting - here is a thread on an original that shows parking on the pass side.

This has come up again and again. The interesting question is why some of the very high end replicas are parking over to the driver's side. Foot pedals coming up from the bottom, slanting the radiator just right, yeah I can understand that they might be a bit of an engineering nuisance, but parking your wipers? C'mon, that should be pretty easy. Edit : You can peruse some nice originals on Sundude's flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3808920...7629081440216/ Last edited by patrickt; 01-08-2014 at 11:14 AM..

And it looks original. Possible it could be a continuation model I guess - but that wasn't what I remembered. And I looked at a couple of others too. I guess this evening I will have to search back and find the thread where these photos were originally posted. I've been using it for a screen saver for a year of so, so I hope it's an original. |

That was the 2007 Palos Verdes Concours d'Elegance at the Donald Trump National Golf Club. Ol' Shelby and Bill Krause were the Grand Marshalls that year. I can't remember the car number, but I'm going to say it's what we affectionally refer to as a "continuation car." I'm sure there are a few guys on here that will remember it now that I've bird-dogged 'em. |

Oh man, do you have to start that whole continuation is/is not original thing again? If so, just post links to all the other threads that have already exhausted that debate

I guess the actual linage of the car was never established when this was posted.Spotters: Which 427 Cobra at Palos Verdes Concours?
Looks like I mistakenly relied too much on my favorite photo and jumped to conclusions. But, you have to admit it's a georgeous view and car even if the wipers are reversed.

But look at this one. The wipers park to the driver side on it and it's an original.

So why do so many nice, expensive replicas have it so wrong? |

 Hi Dan,
Out of curiosity, I just paged through my book: "Shelby Cobra Fifty Years" by Colin Comer. There are dozens of photos in the book and here is what I observed regarding wipers. The book starts, of course, with the 289 cars and, although the vast majority park to the passenger side, there were a couple of examples where they parked to the driver's side. For the 427s, all the photos where wipers are visible indicate they park to the passenger side. I noted that there are a lot of photos of 427 street cars (over a dozen) - all parked to passenger side. Interestingly, when the story got to the continuation cars, all the photos of them show wipers parked to driver side. For the replicas pictured in the book (not many photos) I saw a Superformance with wipers parked to driver's side.

Not relevant to your car, but interesting, was the Daytona Coupe. The first one made - CSX2287 - parked to passenger side but photos of subsequent cars showed them parked to the driver's side.

CSX4xxx, Kirkham, and SPF all park to the driver's side. Now, I'm sure you're asking "Why, or why, would they do that?" |

Not all. There is one photo of a Kirkham in this book - Richard Messersmith's KMP0305 (actually two photos of this same car) and the wipers are parked to the passenger side. Also, in the gallery on Kirkham's website there are both 427 and 289 cars with wipers parked to passenger side, although most are parked to driver's side.
And, since you're just itching to tell us why this is, I'll bite. Why this is?
