Hello again!

It's hard to believe I took delivery of ERA 2131 twelve years ago in May 2011. The past few years it wasn't registered and in storage. About a year ago, the car went back to New Britain and Peter P. and the crew replaced, replated or recoated anything worn, tarnished or otherwise compromised by age. I've had it back since April but, despite the best of intentions, it's just sitting in the garage. It may be time for a new home. I thought I'd give this forum a heads up before I formally list it.

BTW, it's now registered in New York as a 1964 ERA, vin number ERA2131! It also sports a 1964 New York plate. For historic plates, New York law follows the practice of the year the plate was issued and, happily, in 1964 only rear plates were required.

I'll get some current pictures up in due course, although it hasn't changed a bit in the interim, other than replacing the Florida "antique" plate with the New York "historic" one.

Hello Jeff
Welcome back, even if only for a short visit to sell your car. A pity that you have not had a lot of use with the car, as I remember that you put a lot of research into its build.
If it is sold, it will be to a very fortunate buyer.

Best regards,
Glen

Jeff,

Time does indeed pass quickly! Sounds like 2131 is alive and well, good job getting it back to Peter and crew for a refresh. Nice that you were able to update the registration and use the car number as the VIN.

Sorry to hear that you might be letting the car go, but when it's time, it's time. I am sure there will be a lot of interest and hopefully it will go to a good home.

Best of luck whatever you decide to do!

IT'S OFFICIAL - ERA2131

Jeff Martin's "Red FIA" is officially for sale. It is at ERA and will remain there until sold. My price is $150,000. If it doesn't sell after a reasonable amount of time, I will list it on BAT. My price is based off of this BAT auction:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/era-289-fia/

Feel free to text me any questions: 917-881-3201

Best to all,

Jeff

Jeff, can you post one medium length summary of all that #2131 has and what's been done to it? I followed the thread originally but 20+ pages is a lot to review.

Strong ask, I personally hope you get it, especially since I've gotten just a few nibbles at $85,000 for 2080.

Bill S.

PS: You might want to check the bidding history of the two high bidders (yes, winner included) and how frequently they bid on the sellers items, in a W-I-D-E variety of items he sells. May be a coincidence, may not be, just an observation and nothing else.

Thanks for the advice; it has some very interesting implications. I have virtually no experience in evaluating bidding history patterns, but I do have a lot of experience assessing the value of various assets. And, in that experience, the high bidder wins as far as I can recall!

In my obviously biased opinion, ERA2131 is hands-down the best FIA ERA has ever built. I don't think you'll get much of an argument from the diplomatic but reliably honest Peter P. And you can buy it now without having to wait two years and source all the vintage and NOS components that I have included in the car. Another consideration is the fact that placing an order today doesn't guarantee it is ever completed, God forbid...

I already posted the link to the high water mark auction results of ERA2066 of $133k and the car that it purchased. Here it is again:

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/era-289-fia/

I think mine is as good or better on every point, unless you're stuck on the Viking Blue (originally known as Princess Alice blue, FYI), I've an ad here and will post another one or two elsewhere. If after a few weeks it doesn't sell, I'll must likely run a BAT auction. However, IMO, anyone who seriously wants a car this sorted should get up to ERA now and kick the tires.

Cheers,

Jeff

********IMPORTANT UPDATE********

I am in the process of listing ERA2131 on Bring-a-Trailer. I will post an update when the schedule is set and will provide a link to the auction when it goes live. I am open to offers before then. Hope it finds a good home!

Take a look at this sale. More recent production number but equipped about the same I think.
Hope the link works. Let us know how your car compares.
ERA 2109 sold for $77,700 on BAT a few months ago.

Hi! My Cobra compares favorably to that car, ERA2019, in every respect. The big differences are the attention to detail and authenticity of the build. I asked Peter P. a week or so ago if he could give me a quote about my car that I could use in marketing. His response:

"It is absolutely the best 289FIA we have ever built."

I then asked, "Why?"

"Because of the attention to detail."

BaT and I have agreed to set the reserve above what ERA2019 sold for. I'll post details highlighting the differences between the two cars once BaT has finished drafting the listing, which should be next week.

Thanks for your interest!

Take care,

Jeff

But Jeff, once she's gone she's gone for good... and you can never get her back again.
