No offense taken at all.  I was just trying to bait someone in to over-estimating the importance of proper valve lash. When I was a kid in the early 70's somebody's dad had a P&G Valve Gapper. It was a really cool tool that let you adjust valve lash ultra-accurately. I always thought I did a half-a$$ valve adjustment (still do) and always wanted it (a couple of pictures of it are below). A couple of years ago I ran across Ron Iskenderian's article on when he and his dad tested that tool against the $2 feeler gauge and, more importantly, tested valve lash variance all together.
