I dunno Ernie, not sure what you see in Obama. Without his "Senator" credentials, he would never seriously be considered for a CEO job at any company. Has no experience. Yeah, I know, he's got community organizing under his belt. Big deal. He'd get laughed out of the board room if he brought that up as a credential. But here he is... no management experience and being considered for the most powerful position in the world. It's a friggin joke that in todays world such a thing could happen. And whenever you ask someone why they like Obama, they NEVER tell you. Just because. Something about "the change we need". Friggin talking points.

Somebody PLEASE tell me why they like Obama and are going to vote for him.

Mike

And he just barely beat out Hillary for the nomination.

He almost lost out to the "Wicked Witch of the West"!

Thumbs up

Hey, I like Obama! He gives me a really clear view of just how useless and pragmatically-challenged politicians generally, and Liberals specifically, really are!

Why should we vote for John? The last republican administration spent more than all the other preceding administrations combined. And dont give me that BS about compounding. Did you income double in the last 8 years? Where did it get us? Now that the economy is down and we need economic stimulus, we have no money. The dollar is so low because no foreigner wants US dollars. The interest rate remains low because of the dire economic situation. continued low interest rates equal continued low foreign investment. We are stuck to a degree. The national debt is out of control. There is no choice but to raise taxes in some fashion. By the way, Warren Buffet testified in front of congress that he pays way too little in taxes.

All I ask is that we remain open minded and at least listen to the debates. So many people think of this as nothing more than a football game rooting their team on. They would never even consider looking at the other side. Folks, you have a civic duty (read national responsibility) to listen to the candidates and make an informed decision. Anything else is unAmerican. Listen to the debates with an open mind and then vote.

I just got the following e-mail:

THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

I know that some of you don't like to read long drawn out missives... so
here's the executive summary:

John McCain---> Congress: 26 Years / Military: 22 Years.

Barrack Obama---> Congress: 143 days / Military: 0 days.

Just think how great a professional of any kind you could
be with only 143 days of experience!!!

People want change so badly? . . . . maybe we should
lower the experience requirement for doctors, lawyers,
airline pilots, etc. This would cause some change!

Obama's 143 Days of Senate Experience

Just how much Senate experience does Barack Obama
have in terms of actual work days? Not much.

From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United
States Senator, to the time he announced he was forming
a Presidential exploratory Committee, he logged 143 days
of experience in the Senate.

That's how many days the Senate was actually in session
and working.

The one single Senate committee that he headed never
even met -- once.

After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he
was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the
Free World, and fill the shoes of Abraham Lincoln, FDR,
JFK and Ronald Reagan.

Think about it.......143 days -- 20.4 weeks -- 4.7 months ...

Our children spend more time in pre-school getting ready
for kindergarten.

Why? To save just one unborn child from partial birth abortion. Bush signed an executive order banning it. It is still in place. Wanna bet what will be one of Obama's first actions in His first 100 days? (yes, I meant to capitalize his)

If you feel taxes should increase, then add some to your return. Have no money now? Wait till Obama gets ahold of your wallet. Me? I can't wait for the debates.

Since no brave soul will answer my question, let me take a stab at it for you:

1. "Free" health care

2. "Free" housing (bail you out)

3. "Free" college

4. "Free" health care

5. "Free" jobs

6. More taxes (on the "rich" that is)

Did I mention "free" health care?

Cowards.

Wrong! Under Obamas plan most households making under $250K will get a tax cut.

Households making over $250K may get a tax increase.

Mike - you're making over $250K and you still don't have a sports car? Wow!

Actually, under Obama's plan you will (1) pay no tax if you're a senior citizen (over 55? - over 75?- currently undefined), (2) get a break of $1,000 per FAMILY if you rake in $75K or less (he says the $1K is more than they currently pay in taxes..). NOWHERE does he say you will get a TAX CUT. Nowhere.

However, he DOES seek to maul you on (1) inheritance taxes (you currently get massive relief from this, thanks to Bush), (2) raise taxes on capital gains....you better hope you don't sell your house.

Ohblahblah will seek to keelhaul the rich - which doesn't bother me since I ain't. But his pet social programs are a nightmare for those of us who like Big Government off our backs. This alone is reason to send him back to Illinois.

When has any tax increase been good for the typical, rich, or poor American?

IF you tax the rich (ceo, entertainers, "250K" plus people) , how will they make up the difference? Move to a more economical home? No, they will just raise the cost of product so they can make more money to sustain their standard of living.

For example - Ignorance is thinking that raising minimum wage increases standard of living... all it means that unless it "trickles up"... standard salaries got a pay cut.

I am not sure anyone has given thought to the fact that the forefathers succeeded for far less of a tax structure than we a burdened with now. Especially considering that as of this weekend, our Gov't is now the single largest owner of real estate debt.

I have only heard this from those who haven't earned their money by hard work. (ie, top of the entertainment people (sport included) CEO'S )

Unfortunately, it would be great to "root" for an altruistic team to come up and win it all, but given the choices we are limited to, we are stuck with what is presented. Until we have a revolution to correct the corruption so prevalent in our government, we are stuck throwing all our eggs into the one person who isn't the worst one. (thus the passion (CDC/EXCAL) behind the posts)

BINGO! I'd also include oil companies, corporations and practically any entity that has products or services to sell - they will all simply pass on any new tax, as they do with tax now, to the people that purchase those products and services, cut back on charity, cut jobs, etc - therefore, any tax proposal that hits those that make a lot of money turns into a tax on everyone at every income level - included poor people that don't pay income tax - they also buy products and services.

The fools are those in the middle and lower income brackets that 'feel' like something good is about to happen if BO wins. In fact, a few of those fools are posting here on a regular basis.

Had a short talk with my daughter who just graduated from UCSB, a very liberal university.

She is a staunch Democrat so I posed the following question to her:

If one of your classmates was getting a low grade in one of her classes because she wasn't working very hard, would my daughter be willing to give this girl one of her hard earned A's so the friend could pull up her GPA?

My daughter said "Heck no, I worked my butt off for those A's, why should I give them away to someone that refuses to work just as hard as I did?"

And I replied, "Welcome to the Republican Party!"

That's the difference between the two parties as far as I can tell. And since I am one of the "Haves", I choose NOT to give it to those that refuse to work for it like I did.

So, VRM - what do you think will happen when those making $250K and up get a huge tax increase - not only income tax, but capital gains, payroll tax (social security), death tax, etc.? Do you see good 'financial' things happening to all those - including yourself in the less than $250K brackets? For example do you see: more jobs, salaries increases, cheaper services and products - perhaps a rose garden for everyone or even a Cobra?

Wow. You probably even bought a house while making less. And groceries.

Ready for retirement too, right?
