Chas got confused. He was remembering Marlene Dietrich in the black hose with the line running up the back.

No that's Earls StartLite with a red thread through it. That's an excellent hose BTW and very light with a 220 PSI (IIRC) rating. Originals had a heavy rubber-like impregnated fabric. Acton probably has it.

In our haste to answer your question Mr '427 Street', a big fact was overlooked.
Seeking originality on a street car with an oil cooler?? Why bother when a cooler is 'wrong' in the first place?

Which is why I told him to "forget originality" in the first place. If the red and blue fittings offend thee, then pluck them out... or brush them away, as the case may be.

Oven cleaner or TCP used for cleaning walls will remove the anodizing without scuffing the surface of the aluminum fittings.

-Because it made 601HP with 'dangerous' wires.

Well, since you asked... Yes, I learned the hard way about the "correct" wire order on the driver's side of FEs when Jerry dinged me for twenty points at the last concours d'elegance. Back in the old days, Ford flipped the wires to help separate plug wires 7 and 8, which had a tendency to cross-fire. Now, I never had a cross-fire wth them in numerical order, but I do have the entire 8 wire order rotated a couple of slots from the original #1 placement, so 7 and 8 don't run along side one another all that much anyway. Truthfully, the Moroso wires are probably just better than the older 60's crap. Here's a shot of the order as specified by Jerry.

^^^You could disconnect 3 of the 8 wires and still have the same 345 HP that LaPine built you.

Yep. I was savvy to that potential after reading my copy of Steve Christ's BIG-BLOCK FORD ENGINES, pg. 153, many years back. That's why I decided to try these about 12 years ago. So far, no problem!
Product Description:
ACCEL 7054, Spark Plug Wires, 300+, Spiral Core, 8.8mm, Black, Set
150 ohms per foot
8.8mm oversize silicone jacket
These ACCEL 300+ wire sets are custom tailored for race engines and their builders. The oversize 8.8mm wire is rated for 600 degrees F and 60kV. Resists heat, chemicals and moisture. High density insulation eliminates arcing. .

Alright Chas, for the rest of the day I want you to study the difference between real power, apparent power, and reactive power and be prepared to expound on the subject later this evening in this thread.

427street, I agree the red/blue fittings look old to me too. I'm in the middle of changing all my fittings to black fittings and black/silver hose ends.
Regards.

Mando: The black/silver look awesome. That's the direction I am going with my ERA FIA with my new KC 331.
Okay, everyone after me:
"Hi. My name is [insert your name here]. I am a recovering Cobra originality nut..."
Kidding aside. I walked in to the Shelby tent at the 2012 Historics and was examining the flip-top Cobra. Guess what? Red and blue steel-braided lines everywhere. Now, if the owner of THAT car dismisses originality...
You know, just sayin'...

Sand blasting also works........bare or black is my preference. ERA#520 is now black. At 74 1/2 I remember the back stripe on nylons very well. As a kid they were a turn on.....not so much today.
