Default Street Legal Sprint Car Build- Need ideas

Hello guys, we race 360 winged sprint cars. I'm building a custom street legal, in-line two seat sprint, that will look just like our racer. It will be used as a tool, to inform people with our cause, "Racers Against Texting While Driving". I have already posted a thread about my niece dieing while texting. If you want to read about her accident and the plans to utilize this sprint, here is the link.

http://clubcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106060

We built the first single seat, sprint for a customer. It turned out very well and photo's are below. The purpose of this thread, is to gain ideas on some of the customizing, and to refine the car.

Headlights, turn signals & brake lights-

HEADLIGHTS-

The normal round headlight's look too large, like a big BUG.
The smaller rectangle's look better, but not great.

Are there any removable "quick disconnect" headlight's on the market for like Hot Rods ?

It would have to be simple, and not a pain in the @ss to unbolt/un-clamp.

TURN SIGNALS-

The sprint car bumper below, would be great to french-in signals. A few years ago, I saw a Hot Rod that the signals were shaped as arrow's, and looked great, but I don't recall how they were cut and what were used for a lens and light ?

BRAKE LIGHTS-

The same french-in applies here also. Either in the "down tubes" or in the rear bumper. Look at the photo's and shoot me some ideas.

Mike Minnett with Minnett enterprises here in Dallas has a twin seater street legal sprint. You might want to talk to him. Tell him I told you about it.

I like the look of the big slicks on the back.....
the model A taillights look kinda cool....maybe a little lower on the outside of the frame.
theres a headlight that has the turn signal inside the headlight....maybe try those...
they are a little bit bigger than what you already have....

Overall I LIKE IT...

Thanks Bob. I've heard that with the signal built in, oncoming traffic does not see them with the headlights on.

Jay- what's his contact information ?
I did not find one searching.

A while back, someone on CC was making custom brake lights and lens's. I've tried searching the subject, but no luck finding him, Anyone know of that thread or the builder ?

I can see that going down the road. There will be wreaks everywhere as people try to figure out what it is. Are you going to run open pipes? Mmmmmm, what a sound! I really like it.

Thanks Steve.

I plan on making two sets of exhaust. One side pipe set like my Cobra , the other open, for gutzzie road use and while being the pace car at Eagle Raceway.

GREAT NEWS !

I spoke with the editor, Rob Fisher of "Circle Track magazine", and the two seat build and the story of Alley, will be featured article.

This will be very exciting for the sprint, Alley and the campaign against texting and driving ! Being a racer, how much better can it get, for all of this to be in such a great, world wide publication magazine, to aid in getting the word out about this deadly, addictive problem !

This magazine is the best there is, for all circle track racing.

Here's the link.

Kevin.......real nice, was at a cruise night that had a '36 Chev coupe stock car that was street legal, got a lot of attention, your sprint car will do the same.

With street legal, I take it refers to NE regulations ?

A hot rod supplier that I have purchased from, excellent quality, might have some of the choices on parts your looking for:

Juliano's Hot Rod Parts
100 Windermere Ave
Ellington, CT 06029

Thank you, and I agree, it will bring a lot of attention.

Back in 2001 when I tried to licence my cobra, Nebraska had no "Kit Car" or the like, to register a vehicle, without a previous title. I bought a pair of frame rails for $100 from a salvage yard in New York, and a title came with them, from a 1966 Ford Convertible.

Now, they have "kit car" and "assembled vehicle". So, it's not a issue today.

Thank you again, for the company information and I'll contact them.
