Any estimate as to how long it will take to do the finishing touches to the body work and to paint it?

Ozgur_Tan 02-06-2010 11:35 AM

are you going to stick to the original paint scheme or have you made some changes ?

Ozgur_Tan 02-07-2010 10:40 AM

I'll stick to original scheme
"guardsman blue" or "viking blue" with "Wimbledon white" stripes

I have watched the build from the very beginning and have wonderd...Why the big flares on the wheel arches? Your work is amazing by the way....

Frank

Ozgur_Tan 02-08-2010 03:26 PM

thank you

Well, I'm going to try list my reasons;
  • my built is eclectic mix of early comp, csx2137 and USRRC
  • my donor car's front & rear track
  • i like Joseph flares
  • slabside (ok my slab is too much !)
good news is
I'm in progress to stretch body 60mm to reduce fender flares
and
move engine & tranny rearwards min. 200mm to reduce hood bulge and better location
for next built

Looks good in primer! Now that you have a bit of gloss on the body, how much body work do you think it needs?

Ozgur_Tan 02-09-2010 06:22 AM

Today, I've installed rubber seals to trunk, hood and doors for final checking of panel gap.
I thought that there is no need for a lot of body work.
I've to modify little bit inner skin of trunk's touching surface with rubber seal.

Looking REALLY good now

Your car just gets better and better Ozgur !

Please explain how you are planning to stretch the body to reduce the size of the wheel flares.
You are going to widen the body I think?
Keep the same windscreen width?

Beautiful body, you have made a fantastic mold.
If I lived anywhere near I would certainly want to buy a body from you.
Unfortunately, I don't live near anyone!

Ozgur_Tan 02-09-2010 10:58 AM

I'll widen windscreen which is also scratch built

RV Progress

I'm working on it!

My wife thought it would be a one year project...
We are at 2.5 years now.
About what I expected considering the amount of work involved.
Now doing the fun stuff, cabinets counter tops and trim.
Months of work to go still since I only have about 12 hours a week I can work on it.
We built our house the same way and it took 3 years to build.

Next time I build a house, I will do it the way most do, just choose the plans, the colors and sign the checks

Work interferes with my fun.

That car looks better in the 'French' blue than it will look in Guardsman blue. You should just shoot a few coats of clear and sand & polish. Great work so far.

Ozgur_Tan 02-10-2010 10:30 AM

I also like blue
hey! my daily drive is '91 miata which is similar "Mariner Blue" color.
But, It would be better to follow initial plan for colors.
