Excellent work, my friend! It is my goal to do the same thing one day soon. I have a cobra so I'm thinking of doing a custom designed racer. Your work is inspiring!!!

Ozgur_Tan 09-21-2009 05:46 AM

G'day Hyde,

Thank you for your kind words
Your FIA is very good one
Frankly, I've started this project as period correct car
But, now car has got custom hardtop, fender flares, big hood scoop and updated interior etc. etc.

WOW somebody should be writeing a book on your project, you have done an amazing job of makeing your own molds and doing all the computer work, this is more than just bolting together some parts. This is "Craftsmanship" at its best...

Ozgur_Tan 09-22-2009 03:39 AM

Thank you Bob,

No need for boring book, I'm just a mechanical engineer who love sport cars.
Frankly, I've bolted some parts like engine, transmission, differential, suspension, steering column, wheel&tires and interior&exterior trim parts from Finishline etc.

Peace,
Ozgur@istanbul

Ozgur, Do you have any more pictures of the wood strips being applied to the buck or maybe more detail pictures of the buck with the strips freshly laid? I'm interested in how that was done. Thank You!

Ozgur_Tan 09-27-2009 01:19 PM

As requested !

It's really coming along. You decide on paint colors yet?

Ozgur_Tan 09-28-2009 02:21 PM

as we all know that choosing color is very difficult issue

initially I would like to paint GT40 Gulf powder blue and white stripes
but, nowadays I'm thinking viking blue with white stripes

I'm also thinking about interior color; red, tan etc.

I agree. Color was the toughest choice. Can't wait to see it!

Ozgur,

I've been following your progress without comment or question until now. Like others, I'm profoundly impressed by the depth of your knowledge, skill and determination. I have one question. How many other Cobras (real or replica) do you see in Istanbul?

rustyBob 09-28-2009 08:46 PM

Ozgar,
is it driveable yet?
or are you getting close to haveing it driveable.

Ozgur_Tan 09-28-2009 10:11 PM

Could you show some picture also that mold what you made? I just drag mold pieces to carage and start cleaning those so I spend whole day just to sanding worst part/area of those.
