Have you made this kind of mold/plug earlied for other car's?
Anyway this looks very nice and also very solid base for mold. |
short answer is no; i did not use this kind of method before for my scratch builts
my initial plan is to use regular method (5 axis cnc milling of epoxy putty), but i prefer to go with this method for sentimental reasons (tribute to traditional coach body builders) regards ozgur @ istanbul ps: how your project going ? Quote:

I'm waiting that snow melt down and outside temp is high enough for laminating. This because I ship that mold to a bit larger place, but there isn't heating so currently I can only wait. I have made only one (front end) part as a test laminating because I broke plug when I pull that mold out. So I just test that there isn't that stuck poblem in real parts. Beautiful! The lines look even more stunning highlighted by the reflectivenes of the gloss paint.
EDIT: One minor thing, Oz. It could be just the lens angle, but the headlight bucket area looks a bit big and the taper of the fender just before that flat frontal headlight area seems to flare ever so slightly out from the overall sweep of the fender's curve. Like I say - could be the camera angle, but the more I study the beautiful shape, that little detail seems to stand out. |
