Default CSX1001 SOLD in 2011

1965 Shelby Cobra 427 CSX1001

Consignment # 9072
VIN: CSX1001

Sold: $335,500.00 This aluminum AC Cobra was built as a limited production run by Shelby American. The body of hand formed aluminum was built by AC in England was shipped to Shelby American for completion. There were only 12 of the CSX1000 series Cobra bodies completed by AC prior to ending production. Of the 12 bodies made by AC using some of the original tooling all but CSX1001 were sold as rollers through the Shelby Dealer Network with the new owners providing their own motors and drive trains. CSX1001 was completed as a Semi Competition Cobra for Carroll Shelby by Shelby American with the new all aluminum Shelby 427 Engine based on the original FE Engine design. The original owner of CSX1001 was Carroll Shelby himself and it was titled to him as a 1965 Shelby AC Cobra. The original title showing Carrol Shelby as the first owner of CSX1001 will go to the new owner.

Is it for sale again? It just sold in January.

CSX1001 up for auction in Jan 2011

and

CSX 1001 at Russo and Steele


The original owner won the car in the Children's Foundation raffle and is a member here,

Yes, the car is a local car...the owner is in LA...and no, I cannot disclose his name.

CSX1017 that we just delivered last month is also a local...he is a bit north of LA...

We are trying to arrange a photo shoot with both of them...CSX1017 is Royal Blue/White Stripes...and CSX1018 is the exact opposite color combination...so...it would make a great picture!

Question: If there are only 12 of these CSX1000 series cars, why are they into #17 and #18? Are the chassis not in sequence? Are the post #12 cars not bodied by AC?

You can still order CSX1000 series cars. Actually...number 21 and 22 are being completed in Vegas as we speak.

I didn't think any of them are "bodied by AC"

AC tin-benders are long gone from UK. Weren't they built by a third party body shop in UK?
