Neutral Safety Relay Location
I have been troubleshooting a problem with the charging system on my SPF and in the process have discovered several "modifications" made to the wiring by the previous owner (which I suspect is contributing to my charging system problem). The neutral safety switch is not being utilized but during my troubleshooting I was trying to locate the neutral safety relay and haven't been able to find it. I suppose it's possible that it has been removed. Can someone tell me where it is suppose to be ?
Thanks for any assistance.

The neutral safety switch is on the transmission. The wiring for it comes with the chassis and a jumper is installed by the factory, bypassing it. It feeds up to the Start Inhibit Relay which prevent you from starting the engine when the car is in gear.
Contact me offline with your electrical issues if you like. We'll work thru them. Exactly what are your charging issues and chassis number? One wire or 4 wire alternator? AMP meter or Voltmeter?

Hi Blas,
Ya, I know where the neutral safety switch is but was trying to locate the neutral safety relay. One of the factory drawings shows it as a "neutral safety relay" and another drawing calls it a "start inhibit relay". I'm assuming they are the same thing. I wasn't trying to hook up the neutral safety switch, just wanted to see if the wiring was routed and connected per the drawings but haven't been able to locate the relay. Like I said, the previous owner may have removed it. He's made several other wiring changes that I believe are at least part of my problems. I think I may be close to resolving the charging issue but thought maybe I have been looking in the wrong places for the relay. Right now I'm just trying to get everything wired back to the way my Superformance wiring diagrams indicate it should be.
The car is #1016, has the 4 wire alternator and I have just changed the ampmeter to a volt meter.
Thanks for getting back to me.

It's located behind the dashboard, roughly in the center of the dash, grouped with 2 other relays. IF yours is all original back there, the silver relay is for the headlights, one relay is for the fans (it has a BIG red wire on it) and the third relay, with all the green wires, is the start Inhibit relay. All three relays are zip tied individually to connectors on the back side of the dash. The terminology for the relay is all relative.... What "drawings" are you referring to? What Superformance Wiring Diagram are you referring to?
Good Luck........

Blas,
Thanks for the quick reply. I will take another look behind the dash for the relays in the morning ( I think my back has been through about all the contortions it can take for one day ). The drawings I'm using are the ones in the original owners manual.
Thanks for your help.
