Didn't 'ol Carroll himself say that "427" was the model name, not the engine type or displacement?
Or are we gonna argue over what he meant?

That's the way I see it too. He put a "benchmark" name on the car, but did lots of other things depending on circumstances at the time.

Actually, you're so confused now that you've lost your original point, which was what defines a kit car versus a replica:
A. "state of assembly" (i.e., "If it's in boxes....."), or
B. engine manufacturer (only Ford engines) need apply (e.g., no Viper V10's).

Ehh, changed my mind and came back. I can think for myself and change my mind. I'm not ruled by a registry.
No sir, not confused at all. You can clearly see, by your beloved registry standards, what constitutes as a replica.  Which CSX number is that one? 666?
Your stance is that a kit car and a replica are the same.
My stance is that you should pick up a dictionary.

I was talked into showing up at a car show at the NHRA museum a few years ago. Turned out that it was sponsored by KitCar Magazine and FFR and was full of FFR's, Arntz, Butler and others. All great cars and I was quite impressed. Very proud owners and every car unique. That's what's it all about, I think.

My next Cobra project , I am looking for Arntz/Butler change the front end to a Fast Cars IFS and an all aluminum Small Block Chevy stroked to around 427 cubes +/- with Fuel Inj all tied to a nice 5spd. A perfect replica.

A dictionary? In my best Evan Harris "voice", the SAAC Registry is the "Bible" of all things Shelby and their definition of "kit car or replica" is correct IMO. I'll cling to my Registry for my Shelby-related information and NOT my American Heritage Dictionary.
As I said earlier, if you think the cars in those posted Cobra pics of yours approximate the Cobra shape, then I don't know what to you. The only thing that comes to mind is that you're frequenting the wrong site.
