Why the interest, patrickt?
Should I keep spot number 4 warm for you?;)

Why don't they put the magic coating on the outer rim?

Because the gold colored outer rims would look funny? Heliphino.

Some people (lots, actually) likes what magnesium does with some age. But I'm not sure that it isn't coated. I'll ask when I speak to Richard next.

But we've all seen how clean you keep your undercarriage. What's a little more polishing time on the coolest wheels around? Wouldn't it be nice for your ERA to find some mags when you open that bubble at Easter?

Surely they can make a clear coating that work. But I hear you...

I will think about it....;)

I'm going to use the Gibbs oil product, if I ever get a set of these wheels.

You mean "when" you get a set of these wheels.

patrickt and 601HP are on the fence. A very sharp, white picket fence.%/

Mag wheels would be a huge mistake for you pal, given the humidity conditions in which you live. Also, mag can oxidize under clear coats. It's just very porous.

... and don't the front ERA pin drive hubs require a slightly different backspacing as well?

I'll remain skeptical until the wheels arrive on my doorstep.

Knowing Patrick as little as I do, I would think he's not buying the mag wheels. He's too pragmatic for magnesium and sees little to no benefit.

(Did the reverse psychology work?)

There's a set of magnesium wheels from an ERA (machined fronts) for sale on CC right now. Asking price = $3,500.

And once the fronts are machined for an ERA, they are then of no use to a Kirkham or CSX car, correct?

.5" But don't get sucked in-you don't need the hassle to go to restaurants.

Alright, then... I'm off the fence post; count me out. Although I was sorely tempted to reach for my checkbook just to show that RodKnock....

The wheels would then need a spacer to be used.

Personally, I think the master sushi chef would cut your sushi bigger for you if you pulled up to the sushi bar with those mag wheels installed.

You're going to let ERAChas have better wheels than you? I mean he already has a better engine, so your ERA will certainly be a 2nd class citizen now. :p

Yes, and I will just stick with my Japanese bluefin tuna.

rodneym 12-08-2010 11:23 AM

patrickt,

I think ERAchas is working against you.
Next he's gonna tell you to buy one of the 'other' brands that you're so fond of, with a FI 302. Very good for driving to restaurants.

Kind of like a gun salesman saying, "You don't want a Colt 45 ACP, you'd be better off with a Glock 9."

Perhaps... but I'm no match for the conniving prowess of ERAChas. Basically, I just try and stay out of his gunsight.http://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/...ative1/cry.gif
