So ignore the rest of the comments? Why in the world would you "whittle", your words, your engine away? Why give yourself a 50/50 chance?

blykins 03-04-2011 12:08 PM

Rod, if you buy me a solid roller, I'll use it.... ;)

Uhhh, in a word, "Yes."

blykins 03-04-2011 12:29 PM

Ok, here ya go:

Call Bullet Cams: (662)893-5670 Ask to talk to Richard.

Tell them you want a custom solid flat tappet camshaft on a Ford FE core.

Intake lobe = FF284/357
Exhaust lobe = FF297/365
LSA = 110, and tell them to grind it with 6 degrees advance.

I'm in no hurry for it. That will give you enough time to get it in, take pictures, then nit pick it to death on Club Cobra. ;)

OK, I'll get on it next week. What are the specs for those lobes in lift/duration?

blykins 03-04-2011 12:32 PM

284/255/169/.357
297/262/168/.365

Nitrided lobes please. :D

Of course. Wouldn't want you wiping a lobe on the break-in....

blykins 03-04-2011 12:33 PM

Yeah, tell me about it....

Clois Harlan 03-04-2011 12:41 PM

I haven't read all the threads yet but Patrick if you buy the cam I will buy the Solid lifters (not rollers). I have been running a solid lifter cam in my FE for over 6 years. Never a problem. In fact I have a nice Comp solid lifter FE cam I will give you that is pretty much middle of the road (550 lift/540 dur) with 108 deg seperation, I think!

Clois

blykins 03-04-2011 12:42 PM

LOL I can't let you guys do that.....

I'm even going to buy the cam from Patrick after he orders it...because it won't be cheap...

No you're not. I'm going to send it to you anonymously in a brown box with no return address. You'll then be SOL.

blykins 03-04-2011 12:45 PM

Google is a marvelous tool Patrick. You can be found. I promise.

I'll let you give me a nebulous "credit" to be called in at a future date the next time by Cobra breaks, which is a sure thing by anybody's call.

blykins 03-04-2011 12:47 PM

We'll work out a deal.

RodKnock 03-04-2011 01:15 PM

I'm SO VERY disappointed.

What's next? The Quicktime SFI rated bellhousing is not SFI rated?

RodKnock 03-04-2011 01:16 PM

And you're buying a Lakewood for your Cobra?

blykins 03-04-2011 01:24 PM

Rofl.........

ERA Chas 03-04-2011 02:00 PM

GROAN...
Cripes Brent-why did you agree to this?? It ain't the cost I'm sure.
But now you've given the Village Idiot a reason to live and post his gleeful school-boy engine hypotheses--endlessly. And you'll be wearing what ever dresses he picks out for you-forever.:(
When I asked you two pages ago, I meant what car manufacturer's chassis and kit will you use?

blykins 03-04-2011 02:03 PM

Sorry Chas.....

At least I picked my own cam. The only thing he can do is put up endless graphs about durations and lobe separations.

But hey, a free bump stick is a free bump stick.

I'm not sure on the chassis yet....but that's the fun part of starting a new build.

Sorry Pal, you're a day late and a dollar short - the deal is done. And as I recall, RodKnock showed a marked preference for taffeta, perhaps a soft lavender shade.
