That's funny. TV stations make news out of a duck in water. Why not
My answers were always serious and tried to educate the observer. One drunk did t get it and I told him it was a specially built vw beetle

Now I'm going to stir the pot because I can. .
A purist might assert that even the so called originals are replicas of CSX2000
That one had more personalities than Sybil.

Has anyone heard from Chas lately? I don't think he's checked in here for weeks.
I bet he's busy adjusting the bunny ears on his tube TV.

I was the voice of enlightenment in posts #91 and 100.
Your attention span and fact checking are deficient.
When I get my set adjusted, I'll write in Braille so you can follow my future posts.

The real nice continuation cars also have Kirkham DNA.

Seems to me that in the states at least, there is an effort to distance Shelby from AC. There wouldn't have been the Cobra w/o AC. The cars were constructed at AC. The bodies built in England. Assembly was done in England. The chassis manual states that the Cobra is built and designed by AC with the engine and transmission installed in America. Shelby was responsible for the conception of the car and installing the drive train.
So why this effort to remove or lesson AC from the Cobra? I don't get it.

The OP had kind of an interesting perspective on this question, but this thread has gone to where all of these threads go, which is unfortunate as it's not like any of these perspectives are new......
Now that we have devolved further into more personal attacks, Carnac predicts this thread will be locked like all other previous threads on this subject....
Ps. Evan, I hope you decide to stay around this time. It's been nice to have you around CC again.

You are quite correct, on several fronts...
The OP question:
Quote:
|
Guys with original Cobras(either 289 or 427) how many times do you get asked is it a real Cobra, a kit or replica by guys that have no or little clue...and does that bother you?
|
I am looking for only answers to that question from now on...on this thread.

There seems to be a correlation with that and when certain folks return to ClubCobra to deposit two cents again on a tired and worn diatribe.
Not closing it yet... but the original topic needs some attention.
Thanks

I wish George would weigh in on this. He drives his original 427 competition Cobra to many of the local events and is always very gracious to anyone with questions. I'm sure he's been asked many times, (especially since he's usually surrounded by replicas).

Thanks for letting this thread run. Familiar territory yes, but entertaining and enlightening. Gotta let the dogs off the leash every now and then …

I get asked the question all the time and it certainly doesn't bother me. I just say yes and explain a little about the car.

I really couldn't imagine why it would bother an original owner being asked that question.

I am continuing to delete posts here.
What part of "I am looking for only answers to that question from now on...on this thread." wasn't clear?
I will have to begin deleting user log-ins if this continues.
Most of you should go into read-only mode on this thread.
Thanks.
